Is that what that means, or does it mean better players? Since he lumped coaches and teammates together, I was under the assumption that he was talking talent level.

Yeah was hard telling based on tweet but the way i took it was relationships for most part.

which may be even at the coaching level but i gave us the bump as BK proven HC.

247's recap today was that he'll likely use 1 or 2 of his OV's when the dead period is over. Still a 4 team race with OSU, ND, Pitt, and PSU involved. They like ND/Pitt at the top.

Interesting story per some 247 posters. Apparently some Pitt fans were giving Damar grief on twitter for not committing yet. His father thought it was going too far so he tweeted out a picture of a mostly empty Pitt stadium stating, this is why he's not committing to Pitt.

Straight talk I'll be really freaking disappointed if we don't land him. Hamlin and at least 1 LB are the "must gets" of the class right now.

If he's still torn after the full court press, I'd be surprised if he comes to the Bend. I don't know what more he could learn about ND or what mental breakthrough he could have to get comfortable with the Irish.

I hope I'm wrong.

I'm sure you could say literally the same thing about any one of the four schools he's favoring. In fact, wouldn't it make more sense for that to be true about Pitt? The home town school he's been leaning towards the entire process? He's likely more familiar with Pitt than anyone but has yet to pull the trigger. I think he may be delaying his decision because he knows the backlash he'll get from the locals. Doesn't mean he'll pick ND, but it doesn't rule them out either.

To me the more a kid says that the more I back away. He's a flight risk even if he ends up at ND. Just my opinion.

What is with people and needed to stay near home? I would understand if a family member were ill, but seriously, Pittsburgh ain't that far from South Bend. The world is bigger than Pittsburgh.

Absolutely agree, in todays age of social media, FaceTime, Skype...etc. It is crazy that staying close to home is still such a large factor in some kids decisions. Pittsburgh does seem to be an area of the country where those that grow up there tend to spend their adult years there as well, so can't say I am shocked to hear he has reservations about leaving.

there must be something in the water out in Pittsburgh proper...even JoePa at his peak had a lot of trouble recruiting kids he wanted out of there.

Hamlin has a younger brother that was just born within the last year. He is extremely close to his family, so it's tough to leave them when he can literally stay home.

Also, there is a pull for the kids to stay home. Hamlin being from the actual city of Pittsburgh makes a difference. There is a LOT of pride from that city within their sports and Hamlin/Adams/Ford staying home is what the Pitt program needs to take the next step. Pitt is close to being a top team in the ACC, but the lack of consistent playmakers has hurt them in the aspect of reloading instead of rebuilding.

The coaching turnover at Pitt has definitely not helped, but I think Narduzzi will be there for a few years. And I mean Hamlin knows Narduzzi's track record with DBs and he rarely got a talent of Hamlin/Ford at Michigan State despite his success at the position. Notre Dame has a 1st year DB coach that is personable, but there is a blank spot on that part of Lyght's resume in terms of producing NFL talent.

While South Bend isn't far from Pittsburgh, it's still a five and half hour drive, versus the literal 5min drive from his high school to Pitt's campus.

Agree. I think if he commits he'll change his mind, maybe as soon as when classes are scheduled to start. All of the clues are clearly written on the wall. Everything tilts in ND's favor except for distance yet he has still put off his decision. I agree that SB isn't that far away from Pitt, but for some people it might as well be 3,000 miles. There are some people who just want the security blanket. They are afraid to cut the ties. If the kid is good enough to make it to the next level, he better hope the Steelers draft him.

I think the statistic is 70% of Americans live within five 17 miles of their hometown.

IMO Pitt will never take that next step. The don't have the pedigree which hurts them. They are a lot like other programs who cycle between bad to average and catch lightening in a bottle once in a while and have a good team. Similar to A&M and Purdue as a couple of examples.

That comparison would make most A&M fans have a seizure.

I can see Cali and Florida kids having some reservations but the weather is the exact same and you're 5 hours down the toll road if you drive like a man. Come on. And NOBODY goes home to see their mama once they find a chick that does laundry.

WHY did I not stay in coaching? Easiest sales job ever.
