I think all of that can be true. If the players had wanted to play, I'm sure the NFL would have resumed the game at some point (even today or tomorrow). But I do think it is reasonable to believe that the NFL also is smart enough to know that resuming the game with the appearance that they forced the players' hands would have been terrible PR. I think it's fair to assume some goodwill on the part of everyone involved while understanding that it makes the league offices' jobs harder.

And I think coaches going into their locker rooms to try to calm people down and get a pulse on the room is exactly what I'd tell the coaches if I was Troy Vincent.

Also if you immediately call off the game and have 80k people instantly trying to leave the ambulance could have been stuck and unable to leave when they were ready. It sat in the parking lot for nearly 30 minutes.

Exactly this. You know, that’s what I hate about American culture right now - every event has to have some boogeyman doing something insidious. It’s bullshit, and I’m a little tired of the act. Nobody was trying to do anything wrong here. Best intention were had by all and it was a horrible situation. The only horrible people are those who try to fabricate some bad guy.

Couldn’t agree more. Seems like a decent amount of interactions I have with people turn into listening to them explain “the truth” about what’s going on. Nauseating.

He's been communicating with doctors and family via writing, still has the breathing tube in, but just an incredible sign. Has use of his hands and feet. Apparently one of the first things he asked the doctors was "Who won the game on Monday?" What a warrior.

I've been worried since this happened that he'd suffered irreversible brain damage, which is common with cardiac arrest if they're down long and blood flow to the brain is poor to nonexistent for a few minutes. The fact that he appears to be fully conscious and able to communicate clearly with doctors & family is great news.
