Trying to understand why Patterson would go to a team where it appears his offensive skill set doesn't match. Wish him well but unless JH changes his offensive scheme, I just don't see this as a good move for Patterson.

Older brother, Sean, is a Senior Player Personnel Analyst with Ole Miss, joining the staff there shortly after Shea signed with the Rebels. Room for Sean on Harbaugh's staff??

Michigan will pay analyst Kevin Lempa $150,000, new staffer Sean Magee will make $200,000 (Feb 2017)

New senior defensive analyst Kevin Lempa will be paid a base salary of $150,000 under a current two-year deal. New director of player personnel Sean Magee will make $200,000 and will also be on a two-year deal. New offensive analyst Scott Turner will be paid $50,000 in base pay. His deal is for one year only.

If Leo Lewis took Ole Miss's money ($21k), wouldn't have Patterson cost them more and, if so, doesn't he have some tales to tell?

Shea, the NCAA is on the phone?

I haven't read anything about that yet. But, isn't there a new rule that made this not doable. Something like, you can't employ family members of recruited players for 2 years?

Yeah, ever since we hired BVG to lure Monty here the NCAA put the kibosh on that one. We’re still paying the penalty for that shady deal. Even though we self reported the NCAA wouldn’t punish us. They said almost 3 years with BVG was punishment enough......

I agree with the underlying premise of this article....except for players who take schollies from schools like Ole' Miss.

For example, when the NCAA allowed players to transfer from Penn State, that was the right thing to do....but nobody who even remotely follows P5 football would think....hmmm I wonder of Ole Miss cheats? Especially after watching the Tunsil draft fiasco.

getting caught should not be reason for a get of jail free card.

Like the line from Casablanca...I am shocked to find out there has been cheating going on

Exactly. Well put. The idea that they "didn't know" there was cheating is laughable. Chances are they were on the take themselves. With respect to Patterson, his entire recruitment was slimy with his family getting de facto paid through his brother. The idea that Patterson was shocked to hear about NCAA improprieties is a total joke to anyone with a brain. Ole Miss being dirty was the worst kept secret in college football.

Didn't some Bama fan camp out in a lawn chair on their campus to catch the cheaters?

Howe so? Did Ole Miss hire his brother or something?

I didn't follow that recruitment at all.

his brother was hired as a grad assistant that cycle. ND has done this before tbf, they hired KC McDermott's brother back during his recruitment, doubt they paid him cash money in the same people reckon Ole Miss did with Patterson's brother.

I have a hard time getting worked up about that. If it is (was) in the rules, what can you do?

It's like when Michigan and every SEC school were hiring players' dads to analyst positions just before (or shortly after) the kids committed to those schools. It was shitty, but the NCAA made it possible (and like you said, ND tried to do it with McDermott).

On the other hand, I have no sympathy at all if he has to sit the standard year. Like Snoop and LAX said, you deserve what you get if you're dealing with repercussions from buying in to Ole Miss' bullshit.

My whole thing is that he/his family literally told schools whoever gave his brother the best job would get him. They had a *perfectly legal at the time* bidding war... that Ole Miss won... and they're going to turn around and act like he had no idea they were dirty?

Also, the idea that he was misled by the coaching staff sure seems like it should fall on its face when your brother is on the staff...

I love reading articles that state he SHOULD be eligible... because the one thing you can count on is the NCAA doing the exact opposite of what SHOULD be done.

That's the problem is that he SHOULDN'T be eligible. The players that are available for immediate eligibility are those that would have exhausted their last year. Instead, Shea and all other juniors & below were told that they needed to wait a year, like any other transfer. Seems reasonable to me

The NCAA will shake the 8-ball and make their decision like they make every other decision....

I find it laughable that Patterson "didn't" know or was "misled" about everything going on at Ole Miss. Sure, a coach may have told him there was nothing to the allegations. But Patterson and his family wasn't just introduced to how CFB works during his recruitment. They knew exactly what could happen to Ole Miss.

With all that said, suit his as* up Michigan. A little pressure on him and he folds like a cheap tent.
