I saw on twitter that, because of the NCAA sanctions, Ole Miss players can transfer without having to sit out a year.

I'll believe it when I see it.

First of all I don't think he comes. And if he does come, he's going to have to apply for a waiver or sue the NCAA because as it stands today he's not eligible to play right away.

Secondly, I don't think he's nearly as good as he's hyped up to be. Talented, for sure. But he's not a finished product or superstar QB by any stretch of the imagination. I don't get this notion that if he comes to Michigan- he'd just immediately light it up. I don't see it. Not like he's Baker Mayfield coming in there ready to rock and roll.

Thirdly, not sure he'd even beat out Peters if he did come. He's recovering from a knee injury and Peters was an early enrollee at Michigan. He'll have 3 year head start in terms of learning the playbook and offense, 3 spring practice head start, and 2 bowl practice head start. Peters' knowledge of that offense is going to so far ahead of Patterson's. That's a lot of catch-up to do in the playbook in a matter of a few months. Unless that kid has a fotoball genius IQ, don't see it happening.

Interesting, the Michigan site said that this was no longer an option for them.

they weren't interested in Patterson before. He wanted to come to Michigan but they weren't interested so he was probably headed out west.

it's a new development brought about by Speight transferring, which apparently caught Jim by surprise. They'd take him now apparently.

So now just a question of whether NCAA screws us again. (Hint: they will).

Ehhh... I'm torn on this. A lot of the kids knew they were going to a school that was iffy on the rules, but I also hate punishing a kid for the actions of the coaches. I'd be fine with whatever the NCAA rules on this, as long as they are consistent (they won't be)

Here's my issue -- Patterson obviously knew Ole Miss was dirty. Everyone in the country knew they were dirty, and he probably only went there BECAUSE they were dirty.

And now he's going to get a waiver on the rules because they got caught. That's insanely ironic to me.

Yea, this kids recruitment was a wide open, who's willing to pay my brother game. They did the easiest cheat of all time. ust hire him and pay him, though his resume probably doesn't warrant it, and he'll give it to his brother. Makes sense.

I assume all the wigging out is over the fact that this kid can actually play??

I haven't read anything about that yet. But, isn't there a new rule that made this not doable. Something like, you can't employ family members of recruited players for 2 years?

yeah there is a new rule that went into effect this year I believe, so they wouldn't be able to hire him anyway.

Have to imagine either Peters or McCaffrey transfers now.

why? Peters already redshirted and would have to sit a year anyway and it's very likely Patterson is trying to be a one and done if he gets that waiver. That is Patterson's plan. To be one and done. Peters would be better off just staying put and competing and taking over in 2019 if Patterson was eligible and beat him out in 2018.

McCaffrey was incredibly over ranked. Yeah, I get it his father played in the NFL and his brother was a really good white RB. Whoopdie. Why does anyone assume he is going to be good just because of who his dad and brother were? He is 6-foot-5 and he weighs about 165 pounds and his arm strength just isn't up to par. He was probably going to get beaten out by Milton or Doyle down the line anyway and he was never going to over-take Peters. Peters is just so much more physically advanced and his arm is just so much stronger than McCaff's.

I'm looking at the cost-benefit analysis of TomHaverford being here and I'm just not seeing it.
