Cause our coaches are the only ones licensed to drive the bus.

You really think our coaches would spend fifteen hours on a bus, during the most hectic time of recruiting, just to visit one recruit?

I don't know how the bus got there(don't even know if it's there as I haven't seen a pic of it), but there were no coaches on it while it was driving down there.

No, I wouldn't imagine they would. I'm asking if some paid driver drove the bus or if it was semi-d down. IDC either way, just curious.

Are you guys serious? It is the equipment SEMI TRUCK and trailer not a bus. And hiring a driver for either really isn't that hard. Compared to most trucks out there it probably has pretty low mileage. End of the day round tripping to GA probably cost half as much as flying the private jet down there.

I want to hear more about this carbon footprint thing and wonder what recruiting strategy Al Gore would use!

ends will justify the means here

if we get him, it was worth it...if we don't, we will look foolish to many (especially the haters). but who cares they hate us anyway.

either way, if you think it helps you land him ya gotta do it. i'm more of an old school guy but if this is what it takes to get kids to Our Lady these days I say go for it. not hurting anyone!

They drive that truck to every single game. I'm sure the guy who normally drives it drove it and that they are very familiar with the process. I mean just this year the thing had to go to Phoenix, Clemson, Stanford, Philly, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Boston.

I pretty much work in sales and am disgusted on a daily basis by people making really stupid decisions based on style over substance. How do you deal with cheats and liars ripping people off when you take the path of competing on merit and honesty?

Gee kind of sounds like recruiting....

So I guess you don't understand recruiting is sales. Lol This guy.

You young punks get your feelings hurt way to easily. lol

I've heard this millennial thing before when one of my crane operators described how irrationally sensitive some of these guys are getting on a construction site. I don't know If it has to do with millennialism or social media but the butt hurt needs to stop... People are too damn sensitive about everything anymore.

SMH at people who think sales is suckering people, and A-OK to do that b/c .. well.. its sales and buyer beware above all else.

Sorry you need italics to understand when I say "Gee sounds like recruiting" I am saying it is a sales process that is full of dishonest d-bags.

So, you're saying that Kelly and Co are dishonest dbags for scheming up a way to "sell" a kid on playing for them?

Should they just sit back and send polite, formal, and honest emails describing the benefits of playing for Notre Dame?

The game of recruiting, and sales, is about impressing people. If you can't impress people, you're going to struggle (or at the very least, not perform optimally).

And how is this a dick move? A dick move is when a school like Oklahoma tells a kid that they'll succeed academically, but their gsr is well under 70‰. That's dishonesty, not sending a truck down to show dedication and commitment.

I agree this was a boss move and anybody else that does something crazy I give them props.

The thing I like the most about this is that it was so original. Now, anyone else that does this or a similar thing is just a biter and we can make fun of them for it. I'd actually stage a little thing where someone at ND got mad about it and we have to say we won't do it anymore just so we can retire the move and don't have to deal with any recruits getting offended because we didn't send a truck to see them.

Look at the A&M chopper - I think it is cool and an effective way for coaches to check out local kids under Friday Night Lights. One thing to be a scout in the crowd, quite another to park your kick ass ride out front for all in attendance to see. I rolled my eyes at all the coaches pulling up in separate Mercedes or something to one recruit but damn if that doesn't get the neighborhood talking and make you look like a BFD (or FBI most wanted). When the whole town knows somebody important is in town, they all ask and the kid is forced to rehash the visit with a dozen people, which solidifies whatever message left an impression.

Hear it once and forget forever, repeat it three time and forget it never.

Being mildly conflicted does not equal complete disdain.

Didn't see this posted, but Robertson has set an official visit date to Alabama on Sunday after he visits Georgia Tech. He is then supposed to visit Georgia the following weekend after NSD.

Bingo. The same guy drives it every time, or at least it was like that about 4 or 5 years ago. My ex-gf aunt's husband. He used to come to the holidays when in town, usually had some cool pictures.

“I’m looking forward to it,” said Robertson, who acknowledged waiting past National Signing Day to make an announcement wasn’t originally in the plans.

“It wasn’t until a week and half ago now,” said Robertson, who added he doesn’t anticipate waiting long upon his return from Athens before he makes his college choice known.

“Not too long. Probably a couple of days,” he said. “I have an idea of where I want to go, but I want to see all the schools and take all my visits to really know.”

Sounds positive for ND.
