I'll pile on, because I don't think the problem is Nick Coleman. The man can't play football at this level.
The problems I see are institutional and stubborn coaching.
Institutional: The 40 Year Commitment pitch has to go. This is not specific to Coleman but I just can't see how this helps motivate 17yr old kids to fight, compete, and struggle to get better. Their lives are set the minute they sign their papers. In a practical sense, I don't see any harm in cutting a few players every year and doing what in fact today's poster suggests. Can't play? No scholarship renewal.
Sutbborn coaching: It's beyond a familiar refrain but all too common under this regime we see guys continuing to see the field who we all agree are not prepared or capable. I have a list of 12 guys in my head. Why are no adjustments ever made?
Nick Coleman should not see the field again.
