This guy meant Texas right?
Nope it was Nevada...he gave up the 66yd completion at the end of the game that lead to Nevada's TD. But even without that to allow 5rec for 88yds is rough

No i don't think you are correct. I belevie he got beat twice deep. One time on the deep route he fell when turning around to play the ball...smhSounds worse than it is. A lot of those passes were 5 yard button routes where BVG had his DB playing 8 yards off the line. Take that stat with a grain of salt.

IDK. I know he is an athletic kid, but it looked like a very nonathletic play.I wouldn't indict him on the play where he fell down. He got his head turned and was going to be in position for the INT, but lost his footing.
It's his job to keep his feet under him, but sometimes the turf monster acts up and there's nothing you can do.

Nope, I'm not wrong.
He didn't get beat deep on the play he fell on, either. He actually had great position and did something no defensive back for ND (minus Cole Luke) can seem to do, turn for the ball. He slipped gathering his feet which is bad luck, but the defense to that point was textbook.
The only other play he was responsible for down the field was at the end of the game when he decided to play man and the other ten defenders played zone.
Other than that, five yard button routes, that's all. I'm not saying he was a wold beater against Nevada, but that stat is shit.
I have every Coleman play time stamped for a write up on ISD if you want to dive into this more.

I thought there was a pretty good improvement between Texas and Nevada. I disagree about the non athletic part on the fall. I think Cole is a great CB and he slipped on one of the coverages as well but his WR wasn't targeted so it had no effect. Nick was in position with his head turned to the ball. He did have a bad mistake that led to their only TD.
So I'm the only poster who thinks Nick Coleman is a liability at corner?

Ummm... The talent difference that was there should have been a given.
So you are saying it's fine that he made a non athletic play on the ball, by tangling his feet up and falling?
Also it's ok that he didn't know what play was called?
If these happened in a close game against MSU people would be wanting his head.
Let's face it he is a liability!

CanadianIrishFan, I can't argue that. Then again we have CB's in the NFL. No superstars, but in the NFL.
But, we haven't had any shut down with advanced athletic ability that is for sure.
I take it you haven't been watching ND for that long? Vontez Duff and Shane Walton were outstanding college DBs. As in, Consensus All American outstanding, for Walton, in 2002. If we want to go back further, we could talk about Jeff Burris, Todd Lyght, Pat Terrell, or Dave Duerson.
You left off the best corner I have ever seen play at Notre Dame. Bobby Taylor. I've been a fan since 92 and he is the best corner I've seen put on the Irish uniform.

K. Russell was incredibly talented. I suspect he'll have a great career in KC if he can stay healthy.
I really wish he had one more year because he can turn and run with anyone.
Texas had 280 passing yards Sunday night
FSU had 419 passing yards last night
Ole Miss had 313 passing yards last night
Because UT could run at will. They had 5 rushing TD's. They didn't need to throw like FSU did or Ole miss did as UT had the lead, or was close.
And they missed about 3 TD passes. 2 were drops and one was overthrown.
If UT needed to throw for that many yards, they could've. Easily.

I don't care who is playing corner, we are 1 of 5 FBS schools that doesn't have a sack yet this year. We need pressure up front to give these guys a little help. Not saying he has played great by any means, but anyone who knows football knows that a pass rush helps the guys out on the back end.
