should have stayed for another year. he could have used a great season and obviously he didn't cut it so hindsight is 50/50 I guess.

He would be buried on the depth chart. Doubt Kelly offered him to come back

F no. the guy was a waste of talent. better off without him and let Tommy T get his reps and develop

Released by the Steelers from their practice squad on Oct 2. Signed by the Chiefs today to their practice squad.

Nothing like being a fringe NFL player to get to see all of this great country of ours.

haha, joking aside, practice squad players make a minimum of $8k / week, which equates to $136k. Not too shabby. The moving around would be really annoying though. Hope he figures it out and stays on a squad for a while here.

Hope he majored in something useful!

Film, TV and Theater...I'll leave that up to you to decide lol

As long as he keeps getting picked up by someone because practice squad players don't travel IIRC.

136k aint that much for their lifestyle. constant travel, training, diet, paying taxes in multiple jurisdictions

I think his upside may have been seen as higher,... it just never came to full.

Would have liked to see how he'd done at OU or Bama. For some reason (like McKinley) he just didn't click at ND. The game I saw them play against each other was the best HS game I've ever seen.

He couldn't get out of his own way, plain and simple. Was given plenty of opportunity. Doubt he would have faired more productive anywhere else.

You say that but maybe ND wasn't the best place for him... but it wasn't that far off that he felt the need to transfer? Maybe his antics are such a 'so what" at a factory that he never sniffs the doghouse?

One of the best HS football players I've ever seen live.

I remember watching one of his HS games on ESPN and thinking he was going to be an All-American/Mackey Award winner.

I wasn't sure he was going to be a TE at all, or a real TE at least. Gorman used him just like ND used Eifert... never attached.

Everyone raved about him coming in but I just never saw it at the college level, not even glimpses. No idea what happened.

I hear what you guys are saying. I think what happened to Alize is he maxed out his talent, hit his ceiling in high school. You can say that he was in the doghouse and had academic problems that caused him to underachieve. But, look at his combine numbers. His testing numbers at the NFL combine were very average for the majority of all the drills. So athletically he tested average, which correlates to his average production in college. I would bet that Kmet crushes the testing numbers Alize put up.

With McKinley reportedly not returning next season & if no other WR w/ size steps into Claypool’s position, I could see them going w/ Kmet unattached. Assuming Kmet returns.

Wow. Wright and Mack didn’t make the roster…

all projections were showing Mack taking the 3rd TE spot.

neither showed well in camp or in the games tbh. The bottom of the Lions roster is so bad they are gonna have a bunch of guys cut by other teams in their 53

I don't meant to pour it on Mack, but I was thinking about this the other day...

I can't tell you how many times I saw our QB throw the underneath pass to Mack, who would immediately get chopped down at the legs by a LB/CB for a minimal gain. The route frustrated me, because I couldn't understand the point of having a pass play with the apparent goal of gaining 3 yards.

Well then Mayer comes along, and we keep throwing that exact route, and this stuff keeps happening (35 seconds in):

Turns out, the route wasn't the problem.

Mayer on the low crossing route was deadly all year. Too fast for 95% of linebackers and too physical for 95% of safeties in the open field.
