Literally no one thinks that. What everyone does think is that if he's routinely explosive and productive at ELITE levels with a handful of carries a game then it's logical to give him more carries. No one thinks that his production is going to stay at 9+ YPC having to do the "dirty work" also.

You could be right, but that's not how it's coming across to me.

Going to say it here.

Tony will finish with more caries, yards, and TDs.

(and this is not because I necessarily believe it's the "right call")

i REALLLLLY dont want to agree with you on this one.........ughhh

You know what, I WONT!... Dex puts it all together this off season, in regards to pass blocking, and be comes a great 3 down back, who is able to show us the skill he has been, but wayyyy more often!!!

You know FightingIrishLover7 is right. Kelly prefers a complete back, and it's unlikely Dex makes a full transition for next year. He is the second coming of GA III, who lost his starting spot to Cam McDaniel. I'd love for him to prove me wrong, but it's very likely Tony Jones is the heir.

imo tony jones was an over rated hype machine last season.

Tony Jones was also injured for part of the year.

I don't think so. I think he was dealing with a persistent injury that plagued him all season.

I think he'll be one of the people most affected by the next 2-3 months of recoup. I expect much more from him but then again, I still hope he's #2 behind Dex.

Dex has all the physical attributes you could want.

hahah thats why i said " ughhh " ... he most likely is right. It still pisses me off so much though, as Dex is clearly super talented. Way more talented of a RB than GAIII IMO. GA was crazy fast obviously, but the straight up running style and lack of agility that Dex seems to have.

As our boy up in heaven, Greg Bryant would say, Dexter has that SAUCE!

Unfair comparison. GA III was never a running back regardless of what BK thought.

True. But Dex is a running back. And if he can stay healthy and learn to block a little, he should have a very large year next year.

I agree to an extent. Dexter stays lower than GA III and is more shifty, but at the same time GA III was not a pass blocking back, nor was he a receiving threat. It's what lead to him getting benched in favor of Cam, who was a more complete back. It's for those same reasons I think Dex will remain as the #2 guy and Tony Jones will emerge as the starter. Again, I hope Dex proves us all wrong and puts it all together in the off season, because Tony is still young and isn't as limited in his college career.

When talking about playing time for Dex and Jones remember that the staff wanted to use Jones in 2RB sets this year but couldn't because he was never fully healthy. If Dex can figure out pass blocking or receiving then that makes the 2RB set a real danger for defenses and we might see it a lot.

He's going to take the majority of carries this year, there is no way he didn't make the grades, right? I don't want to feed speculation but damnit, I was hoping we were mostly passed this.

Some rumors floating that someone is suspended for smokin weed and dexters name is apparently the one floating around the most. I have 0 idea if this is true or not, but I really wouldnt be surprised. This off season should be fun!

Marijuana cigarettes... REEFERS.

(You have to get caught with weed a few times to be in trouble with the ND coaching staff. It’s a really dumb thing to get in trouble for with the slack they get.)

If this was bad enough for him to be cut he would be by now right? The other guys who have been released recently were gone before we knew there was a problem.

I hope he is eligible to play every game this year but if he isn't then I hope he learns from this and I look forward to a heavy dose of Tony Jones Jr. and more Jafar Armstrong and Avery Davis in the backfield. Sounds like Jahmir Smith and C'bo will need some time but if they can make an impact this year then more carries for them too!
