If only social media would have been around in the Bobby Knight era.

Reading between the lines, maybe Rosen has been pretty cocky and has been acting like the job is already his, hence Mora's message. I can think of better ways to deliver it.

True, but sometimes I wish BK would say stuff like that. Can't always be upbeat and positive about your players.

i gurantee you kelly is absolutely ruthless behind close doors.

i had a front row seat to him destroying tony pike when he was at cincy

Of course he is. They all are.

I played for the nicest guy in college basketball and when he wanted to, he could be an absolute jag. Kids expect that. That's why when I hear people around here boo hoo'n about Kelly's purple face and how other programs are negative recruiting on that, I giggle. They all do it. Think of the nicest guy in college football... Bill Snyder maybe? He does it guaranteed..

He's going to be a player for as many years as he stays at UCLA. He has targets and he has an arm. Doesn't look rattled to be playing in college.

From B/R interview

Look, football and school don't go together. They just don't. Trying to do both is like trying to do two full-time jobs. There are guys who have no business being in school, but they're here because this is the path to the NFL. There's no other way. Then there's the other side that says raise the SAT eligibility requirements. OK, raise the SAT requirement at Alabama and see what kind of team they have. You lose athletes and then the product on the field suffers.

the headlines/hot takes from this article are very absurd but when you read the article he speaks very well and makes valid points.

Me now wondering if the Browns should tank one more year just to make sure they can draft this kid:

I love it when people speak truth to power, which is exactly what Rosen just did.

So...evidently the Bruins have a tremendous amount of academic scholars on their football team because they suck at football.

While I agree with Rosen that football players have tremendous schedules, I disagree if he thinks athletes can't receive good educations. They do it all the time at every university.

It does happen for sure, but I can't help but think that someone like Max Redfield wouldn't have been as lost on the field if we wasn't taking 18 credits per semester.

Some do, some don't, regardless of which school you're at. I think what he's saying is that, generally speaking, the education players receive isn't worth much because there is not enough academic support for players, they're often pushed into worthless majors to help them stay eligible, etc. Not the case for all, but in general I believe he's correct.

This is also an implicit argument in favor of players getting paid. Currently, many argue that the value of the education they receive is effectively payment enough for the players. Rosen's saying that the value of that education is greatly diminished because of football, which would imply that it's not payment enough (or at all). I think he's right on the money with that (see: UNC).
