I think there's a lot of confusion on how that term is used then, because I've seen it used interchangeably with laser. Favre's arm strength was well known from day 1, and it was often said he "threw a rope" to a particular receiver such as his game winning TD pass to Taylor in his first career game against the Bengals in '92.

In any case, the pass from Tommy to Floyd had little arc to it, it was a dart (Is that better?). I was kinda joking about the whole thing, but honestly...I'm sure there were better examples of Kizer's arm strength out there.

I think the phrase is actually "threw a frozen rope", which indicates some rigidity, and the lack of an arc.

I am very confident that he will be the best NFL quarterback to come out of this draft.

Andrew Luck best, or Jared Goff best?

I think in the right situation he will have a great career.

I'm happy for Kizer and I hope his ascension continues. It'll only do good things for Kizer to get drafted high (as high as the number two pick) after putting up decent numbers on a 4-8 team.

Young guys hungry to make it will see that as a sign of NDs power. (rightly or wrongly)

The more I read, the more I think the Browns truly WOULD be a good landing spot for Kizer.

After watching Hue work with Andy Dalton and AJ McCarron, I don't think there would be a better coach to use Kizer's skill set while helping him develop than Hue (with the exception of Belichick, obviously, but there's no chance he ends up there unless there's a draft-day trade of Garrapolo, which is <1% probability).

The question is whether or not they could get him OL help. If you can't get help on the OL, it doesn't matter how well the QB/Coach match works.

It's easy to look good as a developer of QBs, when your QBs have targets like AJ Green and Tyler Eifert to throw to. While he is no Walter Payton, Giovanni Bernard is also a MUCH better RB than anything the Browns have to throw out there. Please don't wish for Kizer to go to the "Graveyard of QBs"...

Ha I would agree with you, if the Bengals offense were ever at full strength.

Dalton is not a QB that can "take over," and yet Hue consistently schemed him into success, even when Green and/or Eifert were out. He put Dalton is positions to win games more often than Dalton "took over" on his own.

Dalton is good enough that he can and has taken over a game of his own volition, such as this year when his OL was trash and he still managed a few comebacks early in the season, but Hue had the offense on another level during his time in Cincy.

But you're right, I would prefer a decent team to take Kizer to let him learn for a year. The Bengals should trade McCarron and grab Kizer to replace Dalton in two years when his contract is up :)

I would actually like to see him get picked by the 49ers. Shanahan is a really good coach, imo. There's a reason Cousins and others wanted to head there.

Lynch was raving about his interview, but I worry that he's just trying to drum up interest to trade down for picks.

I agree with this, plus it's the old Shanahan offense. Strong running game to set up play action and unleash the dragon. Kizer is good on PA and would kill in that offense.

its in Lynch's interest to rave about everybody in the top 10 to generate trade interest

I watched every minute of every game this past season, but still was kinda shocked to see that he threw 26 Tds vs 9 Ints. I thought he needed another year, still seems too raw. But hell, I think I am blocking out the painful 4-8 season? Good luck to him, hope he is finally the ND QB that gets drafted high and doesn't ride the pine for 4-5 years and disappear. Powlus, Quinn, Clausen, etc.

How does Kizer have character Concerns? or could it be a smoke screen

Most likely it is a smoke screen from teams hoping he drops like ND QBs have proven they can drop. But could also be a mix of intangibles adding up to "character concerns."

"It" factor QBs find ways to win, will their team to win. Hard to make that case here. Not like ND is sporting D2 talent around him (despite what some Debbie Downers might claim). His demeanor too - I mean we heard nothing but how Malik was such a great leader.....

Yeah Malik was such a great leader on the sideline...

Kizer is a tale of 2 seasons even within this past year. You had the games where he looked like a lock as best QB, and then he dropped off. I was listening to the II podcast yesterday and they brought up the question of why was he so "clutch" in 2015 but not in 2016?

Kizer's going to benefit from sitting for a year, but he has to work on his mechanics. They've always been inconsistent, but being that bad at the combine is embarrassing. Drop to the 2nd so da Bears can trade up to 33 and get him...

Can't find the post but I recall Sherm convinced that Kizer would be a first rounder.

Peter Schrager on Foxsports agrees. He picked Kizer, "pro ready coming from a Kelly offense," to go to Cleveland on the 12th pick. Claims pro teams like him better than Watson, 13th pick, Arizona. First QB taken Mitchell Trubisky UNC to the Jets, 6th pick.
