Police chief says no wrongdoing in arrest of Notre Dame's Devin Butler | WSBT
Here's the unreal part of this... "well, we did an internal investigation, but just trust us nothing at all bad happened... and because you can totally trust us that nothing at all bad happened, we're not going to give our findings over to Board of Public Safety or release any information publicly."

This is an issue for Mike Pence to solve. He said the other day because of his initiatives there was no more police corruption, or no more issues of inappropriate law enforcement behaviors in Indiana.
Really.
I love ND. And I love South Bend. Other towns and many areas within Indiana. The lake shore. Bunches of other lakes and recreation areas, etc.
And I have a lot of friends, family and acquaintances that are Hoosiers.
Yes, it is true, I hate the toll road in Indiana, that is no secret.
But I have to tell you, Indiana has some weird mojo. When you look at the KKK activity in the state, the corruption in politics and law enforcement historically, etc. You are talking up some really fucked up stuff!

Just the tip, but a Dragon/cannibal elected to the highest state office!

Looks like the kid in school who got his ass beat everyday for being a douchebag. And he cut his neck shaving.
Great news that he won't have a permanent mark for this. Too bad the plea will be treated as an admission of guilt and free pass for the officer when the evidence looked pretty damning for the SBPD.
He's also got to write a "sorry" note to that f*ckhead cop.
How do you say "sorry" to some douchebag like Knepper?

How that conversation went: "look, you plead guilty to the lowest charge we can offer, pay the lowest fine we can give, and then write an 'apology' letter so we know you won't sue us... and in a year, we'll wipe all this out and it'll be as if it never happened. Otherwise, you're going to spend much more than $400 in court trying to fight this and we'll threaten you with jail time. We don't get sued, you don't get punished, everyone goes home."
In his shoes, I'd take that deal every time.

Dear Officer Knepper, I am sorry you are such a fucking douchebag.

"Dear Officer Knepper: I am sorry you still have your job. Please enjoy this autographed copy of Super Troopers to remember me by as I think of you every time I take the football field in the future."
This could be a fun game.
With a highly rated law school and impressive social mission you would think ND would find a way to overlook conflict of interest issues and get some serious free legal representation to fix this. With police conflict in this country, missing a chance to fix a problem by ND is too bad.
That last line is such a kick in the balls. So I worked in the City of Houston jail for four years. We'd have to write letters in different situations that involved someone complaining about our "handling" of them. This letter reeks of a template and you just input specific names and dates. I wouldn't be surprised if the lawyer wrote the letter and Butler just signed it.
The more I read the letter, the uglier I feel for Devin. He's making the smart decision, but it's probably not the just one. I would make the same decision in his shoes, but it sucks that Knepper is going to walk away from this with a slap on the wrist again after multiple issues on his record. He should be writing a letter of apology to Devin, not the other way around.
