I never thought Devin Butler's thread and Police State USA's thread would have a common theme.

Let's just hope that since this is an ND man and the story of the accused holds true that this police officer gets what he should on his day in court. I understand not all LEO's are bad and have family on the force, but the cocky shit has to stop from the bad apples..

This is why I'm not a big fan of her, or Hunter's fiance, doing interviews. Them talking doesn't help the situation.

I disagree. It builds public momentum and you'd be foolish to assume the law is impervious to the recent discord between law enforcement and the public.

I don't necessarily like this kind of external pressure because it can be sensational in nature, but I hope in this case it's rooted in truth and results in one of our players being exonerated and the POS cop being removed from service.

If that's not truth, then I hope justice is served.

If I were drafting a powder puff football team she would be my starting middle linebacker. She looks like she's got a low center of gravity and powerful lower body thigh/torso combo that would allow her to really wreck some girls on the football field... or in a parking lot at 2 AM.

If it wasn't 2 people directly connected to the original incident and the arrested player, I'd agree. But 1 is accused of attacking another student and basically beating the shit out of her.

I disagree. The DA only goes by what evidence is presented to him. He wasn't there. And the Chief wasn't there either, and has zero reasons to believe kids over his officers in a bar fight situation.

I'm assuming both will re-examine the evidence if new stuff presents itself.

Also, we don't know what the other officer is saying. And we also have no idea if Butler's girlfriend is being truthful. She has her own bias.

I understand calling the Knepper cop a pussy.

I am glad.

Time after time appellate courts, and someone correct me if I am wrong, have ruled that prosecutors have to use common sense, and other information at hand to make their legal determinations in charging an alleged defendant. And isn't that what grand juries do? Can't they take everything and anything into account?

The point is that prosecutors often claim that they have only the information that the police present to consider. And I believe that a prosecutor can be censured or even removed from the bar for ignoring issues he should have know, like the police officer has a long IA record, with several (or more) incidents of the said officer violating citizens civil rights.

Any real living law, from the words of Jesus, to the intent of our founding fathers charges us to be responsible, not sit back and do nothing, and to do the right thing, even if it isn't the easy thing to do. And that may well be true in this case.

If witnesses continue to dispute the police report, and other exculpatory evidence continues to make it self known, evidence that was ignored by the investigative arms of the police, and the prosecuting attorney, in a rush to file, and charge, I think everybody involved in the process of suppression should go to jail.

Further, I hope the University of Notre Dame leads in the charge against local law enforcement if this is absolutely true.

Earlier in one of the threads I commented on a number of conditions I needed to see for me to regain trust in the University and football program. The first was Kelly reacting quickly; which he did and has universally been lauded by the media. One of the last was the University of Notre Dame waiting to see the veracity of the charges against each defendant; which they are doing. With that Notre Dame needs to take care of their own. In this the end of the year of mercy, ND needs to cause as much or more of a ruckus than they have with the ESPN lawsuit. ND needs to throw the full weight of its legal apparatus into defending a student against false charges, as in the case of a state pursuing a bill ignoramus.

Is the old line about prosecutors not going to trial unless they know they can get a conviction true?

The funny part is that they want him fired for abuses prior to the alleged abuse of Butler.

"Ongoing federal lawsuit"... and dude was on the streets assaulting ND students... I mean... "protecting and serving." What a joke. Anyone on this board still want to defend this clown?

So there's no video, the accuser is a clown, and the only available witnesses contradict him? Am I getting that right?

Almost regardless of the individual case, I would think a prosecutor has to be nervous about moving on one of this guy's arrests.

If his testimony is a key piece, which it most likely is, this could go very well for Butler.

When Lax gets indignant, shit is getting real!

So there's no video, the accuser is a clown, and the only available witnesses contradict him? Am I getting that right?

I assume you mean that the police officer has no video corroborating his incredulous story, and the only witnesses to the event contradict that police officers story?

If that is your question, then yes you are getting it right.

My only question is of how many of his superiors does Knepper have sheep photo's?

Did you read the article?

Knepper and the department are being sued for the third time in federal court for an injury/assault incident and this guy is still on patrol? While the case is currently being tried? And here we have case number four?

And you mean to tell me that the Chief of Police of the South Bend Police Department didn't get the idea of suspending this miscreant until someone at a meeting with the public on improving 'race relations?'

Honestly : fuck, I remember seeing the act at the Shrine Circus where the cops all arrived in a squad car and 27 of 'em poured out of a little clown cop car. The were much less of a joke than the entire SBPD is right now.

And of course the climatic, "Oh fuck" moment of the whole article is when the prosecutor claimed that the golf pro was injured in the back of his head by falling on the pavement.

Any of you ever see a picture of Tom Stevens' face after the incident? Yeah, so that prosecutor is trying to cover bunches of asses, or is the male lover of Knepper, or is high on crack. Take your pick.

Oh wait let me P.isS. this. You wanted video MN? The 2014 incident which is in court right now actually has video. It shows the guy, break the law (true), being pursued and detained by cops, surrender, and then have dogs sicked on him and being tased!

Not only should Devin come out okay. Think how rich the guy (who may have deserved to be arrested in 2014) will become from Butler getting taken down at the Linebacker!

Can Butler get a "redshirt" if he is deemed innocent? He is also injured.
