Sad, sad story. Mike is headed for is own 30 for 30. Here in about 10 years they'll catch up with him coaching peewee football and talking about how he is clean now, and feeling good.

Hey mike, what say you just fix your fvcking head NOW, and have a nice end to your career so I don't have to watch the sad documentary.

He's a millionaire and it's easier than ever to get a ride home nowadays and he still pulls this nonsense. Guy needs some serious help, hope he gets it.

Hope he gets the help he needs and cuts loose anyone that is enabling him. Mike was a great WR and other than an alcohol problem I have no reason to believe not a good guy. I will be rooting for him to get his life turned around whether football is in his future or not.

Yeah, so sad. Probably not a big enough name to get a 30 for 30. But yeah, really sad. Awesome player in college.

I overlapped at ND with Floyd for a couple of years, and I've heard a couple of pretty bad stories about him from friends. I think the guy needs a lot of help, given his rough family background and apparent affinity for alcohol.

For the light guff Boston got for this, and obviously after recent events, he was spot on here. My cousin was in a number of classes with Floyd at ND. They were very good friends Freshman and Sophomore year. My grandpa took him to dinner the night he broke his collar bone (Michigan State game if I recall). Surprisingly enough, Floyd had his head on straight that night because gramps tried to pay for the meal, and Floyd wouldn't let him because of NCAA rules. In any case, my cousin gradually drifted apart as friends from him as time went on. She kept getting after him about the drinking and driving, and the boneheaded stuff he was doing, and he wouldn't listen...didn't like the preaching I guess. Looks like he still hasn't gotten his head on straight.

I'm Disappointed in Mike... The guy seemed to have all the tools to be a Great NFL WR but could never get out of his own way

Yeah.

Went through that same intersection last night at 11:30pm. .

All the bad things happen after midnight in Old Town.

Scottsdale cops are especially merciless when it comes to DUI enforcement. If you've had even a single drink in Old Town on a Friday or Saturday night, safest bet is to just pay for a ride home.

Why a millionaire like Floyd is getting dinged for a DUI in the age of Uber is beyond me.

Biggest question I've always had for any famous person/athlete. Even more true today with Uber, as you said.

Every time I see him he's with his MN posse. What good's an entourage if you can't get lit up and get carried home?

Why in the hell don't they (athletes in general) just have someone drive them around when partying? Not like it's a money problem for most of these self centered a*******. Sad part is that some kid looks up to this clown and a hard working parent is going to have to explain why his/her son's favorite player makes poor choices and is a horrible role model.

I don't think Floyd is any kids favorite player....when he was in college, definitely though.

He never made great decisions before. All the money in the world won't make a tiger change his stripes.

Always a sad day when an ND name is in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Hope he wakes up (no pun intended) and can use this as a turning point in his life and go in the right direction.

Michael Floyd had difficulty responding, changed story during DUI arrest, police report says
Josh Weinfuss ESPN
8:35 pm

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Michael Floyd's black Cadillac Escalade sat through at least two green-light cycles with him passed out behind the wheel before police officers barricaded his SUV between their cars as they prepared to wake him up, according to the police report detailing the arrest of the Arizona Cardinals wide receiver on charges of DUI on Monday morning.

Police found Floyd asleep at the wheel of his SUV in the left-turn lane at an intersection in the Old Town area of Scottsdale, Arizona, at 2:48 a.m. after the Cardinals returned to Arizona from their trip to Miami, where they lost to the Dolphins 26-23.

The SUV was on, and Floyd's foot was on the brake, the report said.

...

Floyd was arrested and charged with obstructing a roadway, DUI impaired to the slightest degree, DUI BAC over .08 and failure to obey a police officer. He was booked and then released from the Scottsdale jail at 4:55 a.m.

If I'm not mistaken, the NFL has limo service all over the country or at least in every major city. All a player has to do is call a hotline provided by the league and a limo is on its way. They'd rather provide this free service to players than deal with DUI's.

That is correct. There is an 800 number on the back of their NFL ID that all they have to do is call that number and a car will give them a ride from anyplace to anyplace they want. An NFL player getting a DUI should never happen.

He appears to have an alcohol problem, hopefully him being cut will help straighten his life out. Sad to see it happen but understandable.
