It's all commission and life insurance sales is a very tough business. Only 20% of agents remain on the job after 4 years. It really is feast or famine for most.
Latest Hot Job: Selling Life Insurance - WSJ.com

I worked in a Life Insurance Co. for 4.5 years (albeit in IT) but I did process some of the numbers for the business. Some of the commisions the brokers and FCD's were raking in every month were insane! Its a good gig if you can get it but i imagine its stressful working your whole career that way. Dayne is a presentable, all-american kid though he should do well.

kinda my view... The consumer lines like Home and Auto...slower to build but a more reasonable existence. What a lot of them do is start in consumer for 5-7 years and build clientel where renewals feed you...then add some level of securities or health insurance...

they make really good money at the 7 year mark and thereafter if they hustle early...

yeah once you become an Executive Broker (top 5, top 10 guy money maker in a company) its a totally different experience than a guy starting out or with a smaller client list. Its a gravy train of free stuff and perks after that.

kid looks like he's aged like 15 years since he was at ND. That season at Kansas with Charlie obviously took it's toll :D

Congrats to him on his wedding

He works in finance. That's partially the reason he's aged.

So random I know, I was watching a highlight tape on him that I stumbled across and I don't understand how this kid wasn't a legit player. MSU game he looked like a NFL QB. Looked like a million bucks and had unreal arm talent but I understand the lights were just to bright for him and he couldn't break down any type of defense but all the talent in the world. I think the USF game just killed his career

Phil Jurovec after watching that reminds me a little bit of Dayne coming out of highschool and that's who I am comparing him too but I think Phil will be a much better player at least I hope so. Hope Dayne is doing well whatever it is that he is doing

Yeah, I was pulling for Dayne at first. Who knows what happened, but he lost his confidence somewhere between the knee injuries. He could scramble with the ball a bit, he had a decent arm at times, had a lot of guts coming back into that Michigan game in 2010 and almost lead a comeback had Denard not torn apart our lack of defense Charlie had fostered in his time here. It's a shame, and it's a big reason why Tommy had to take over in the end.

Dayne could have easily had a better career somewhere else, no question. But what happened to him here could have happened at any other school too. It's frankly a cautionary tale for any student athlete. This is big boy football both physically and mentally. He was injured multiple times in both facets. He not only had multiple knee blowouts, but also got thrown into situations he wasn't mentally prepared for. When you start adding those together, it's very difficult to reach your potential. He was a kid that could simply expect his athleticism to get him through any tough game situation. Well, that's not how college football works. Once he couldn't trust his body to do the things he used to be able to do, he wasn't able to mentally adapt. Them's the ropes.

But again, that's the cautionary tale. It can happen to literally any college athlete. At least he picked a school that prepared him with strong character, skills and built him as leader both spritually and mentally. He has a tremendous future in front of himself. If he would have went to a football factory, he wouldn't have gotten those life skills.
