hmmm...i don't think he would want to walk into the qb situation we have he'd problably rather go to USC and their 15 All american QB's

I think he would be a good QB to get if he didn't mind redshirting. Cause when he would be a rs freshman Clausen, DD, and Frazer would all be Juniors. I also think 1 of those 3 will either transfer or move positions

During his interview it sounded like ND has a real shot with him, and he said he is planning on taking an extended trip to ND in April.

Dayne Crist and Anthony McDonald are High School teammates and apparently plan on traveling together to ND for an extended trip in April. There seems to be a pretty solid chance that they will be a package deal wherever they go, and thus far ND is the only school to offer both. McDonald is talking like he is a heavy ND lean. When he got his offer from ND, he told Crist that now it is his turn to also get an ND offer. Being the first to offer both should give the Irish an advantage, but with the Poodle around and the USC legacy aspect, a package deal for these guys is going to be difficult.

Didn't see an offer for a QB coming.

He's a pretty big kid and athletic for his size.

Yeah -- surprised that a QB gets offered, but hey -- you can never be too careful.

Starting a pipeline at Sherman Oaks would be very, very beneficial to this program.

FWIW, Crist is actually more highly rated than McDonald at the present time by the recruiting services. Both are Rivals 250 to watch, but Crist is also on the Scout 100 to watch.

I think we are very high on Dayne's list. We had a story about him really liking us on Rivals only a few months ago. Plus he said he knows Jimmy Clausen, and that those two are good friends. And I believe he said he wouldn't mind sitting a few years before he gets to play.

As I mentioned before I think he realizes that he's an elite talent and that he knows the best thing for him is to learn and refine his skills and become consistant which I understand is his problem.

Yeah, they went to middle school together and have been friends since then.

I think now that we have 4 QB's already on campus Weis is only going to look at those really special talents that he can brin in at the position and if we get Crist he won't recruit one next year. I think we will start recruiting 1 QB every two years that way we keep the depth at the position yet we aren't wasting talent by stacking multiple QB's in the same class on the dfepth chart. We were so lacking in talent that I think Weis had to take 3 in his first two years just to get the depth and quality of players back to where it should be.

I think even if ND gets Crist, Pryor or any other QB in this class that it doesn't effect Weis's recruitment of a QB in '09. I don't see Weis turning away elite QB recruits because he already has some plus you have to take into account that if Jimmy Clausen wins the starting QB job and performs well you can bet that will effect the others QB's situation.

My guess is that if Sharpley doesn't win the starting job that he drops to the bottom of the depth chart and most likely will never see the field again. So if Clasuen wins out I believe he finishes out the year and then gives up football to put 100% into his baseball career. I have no inf ofor this to be true and I'm not starting rumors it's just what I believe.

So that would leave the team with only 3 QB's and under this scenario with the 2 backup QB's being a year/season ahead of the starting QB and so unless Clausen he gets injured they won't see much if any time. So it's quite plausible to believe that 1 if not both might leave so that the can get playing time.

No one knows whats going to happen but you need to be prepared and you don't turn away top talent, let them make the decision if they want to put themselves in a situation where they have to wait a good long time before there given a shot.

So IMO Weis & Co. will look to take atleast 1 QB per year. some years they might not take any because they the top talent that they will want won't want to come and be behind 3 or 4 others.

Over on DD they said that his favorite is currently LSU.

That might be because he listed LSU first when asked about his Top 5, which included ND, but he also said his Top 5 was in no particular order. He also confirmed that he will be at ND for at least 4 days from April 11-14, that can not hurt ND's chances, especially since he will be with Anthony McDonald.

BTW, over on 4HL they are saying that Crist will commit to USC as soon as he gets an offer. Message board rumors! UGH!

He most likely won't get that offer until Mustain picks a school.

Haven't we been through this already with Mr. Mustain. Waiting and waiting while he counts the lint that he's able to pick out of his navel? Honestly, make a freaking decision already...he's already 0-1.

Now correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Mustain have to sit a year if transfers to another school? so why would USC wait for him to decide considering that they seem to stockpile talent at every position. If they really want Crist they probably could just offer now because if Mustain has to sit a year then he would be a RS Soph when Crist is a true Frosh if I am not mistaken. If I misunderstanding something feel free to correct.

I agree completely, who knows what could happen in the future. Jimmy could earn the starting job while another QB transfers and god forbid Jimmy suffers a season ending injury then we only would have two deep at QB. I agree Charlie should try to recruit one quality QB each year in order to keep our talent pool deep and protect our offense. After seeing the transformation in Brady and the top QB in the country come to ND (i assume to apprentice under charlie) I believe many top QBs will seek out Notre Dame in the future even if they have to sit for a year or two in order to be taught by the best there is in that role.

I realize that, I was just sharing info, but you never know. I wouln't have thought Bomar would have gone the 1AA route either.

That's a good point. You never know. Especially with Mustain. He doesn't seem to be a very good decision maker.

The Bomar situation was different though. And the NCAA still made him sit out some time.
