He couldn't hold the starting job at a below average school. The guy isn't going to make an NFL roster. I'm sure he'll get a camp invite somewhere, but that'll likely be the extent of it.

Maybe he gets a shot in the CFL or in the arena league. I like Dayne as much as the next guy, but I just don't see it.

there is nothing untrue with this post. i think dayne is a great guy. but, his head gets in the way. and its the bad way. you can have a cannon and still be un-rattled by a close TD/INT ratio. a la rex grossman or even early jay cutler. just sling the ball all over the field and shrug your shoulders when ed reed goes pick 6 on you. dayne could never do that. dayne would not even look to his side of the field if they had trips left. his inability to accept a misstep is his downfall. i'd say he would probably blow clausen out of the water in a combine setting or a QB skills off, but clausen's ego, makes him #2 in carolina. dayne doesnt have a killer instinct. im not even sure dayne would be a good coach.

...well, the good news is, we won't have long to wait to find out if he will get a shot...

I'm way behind on this...but I think Dayne gets a shot as a free agent somewhere. He is a big kid, Smart, and has somehow retained some mobility, and has a canon...He could be no.3 in Denver, or Atlanta off the top of my head.

His problem was slowing the game down...you can say accuracy, but too many coaches have seen him throw it Sunday through Friday and thought he had it...that means its mental...given time to devote full time, and maybe an opportunity to be in the same system for a few years w/o the beatings and injuries...y'all might be surprised....I'd sure take him as an FA just to see...

He rushed for a TD in that all-star game and it was a very Rees-esque run. Dayne's mobility is a thing of the past.

Without looking who else is available, if I was a team with a solid qb who will give me 3-5 more good years, I'd take a player like Dayne as a UFA and see how things pan out.
All the physical traits, maybe studying under a Brady or Brees could clear him up.
But I'm not a GM, so what do I know.

I'd love for you to be right, but the fact is he has a terrible record with 20 career TDs to 18 picks. And some serious injury worries. And its not like he was pulling a Matt Cassel and warming the bench behind 2 Heisman winners-- he got beat out by Tommy Rees and a RS Fr. 3 star.

I don't think that's a shock at all. He's got the physical capabilities to be a QB and someone will most certainly give him a look.

For his sake, I hope he goes undrafted so he can pick his team.

And as a 5th year senior at different school once again he lost his job to another 3 star RS Fr. One who sat out a year with an ACL and was unranked as a HS QB.

It's better for him financially as well. Undrafted FAs who make the team tend to make more money than their 7th round counterparts. (I'm not sure about 6th rounders.)

I dont think would be a good clip-board guy. Better for him to move on in life.

I am not an NFL Talent Evaluator.......and I don't claim to be one........ha ha! BUT, Dayne will get a shot to come into a camp and someone will see what he can do. It wouldn't surprise me if Andy Reid brings him in for a look or even someone like Marty Morningwheg with the Jets. It's what they do, if they think you have the physical talent they will see kick the tires but as far as getting drafted I would say not a chance. What has he done to make you think he is draftable. Throw in the injuries and an NFL team just will not take that risk.

Undrafted FA OR someone might bring him in for an offseason camp to check him out.

I hope he goes for it and scratches that itch if he has it.

Good for him. Shouldn't be a tough relocation for him.

All he can ask for is a chance at the NFL. I have serious doubts (we probably all do) as to if he can play in the NFL. I would like to see him succeed, but that last season didn't help.

Beyond his great performance against Michigan State neither did the first few seasons.
Some over exaggeration sure...

He was a hot mess at KU this year.
