I have only followed recruiting for a couple years, but this year's class seems to possess more stable and decisive guys. They all seem to love spreading all that is great about Notre Dame. It also seems that they aren't quite as eager to talk about going on and taking other visits as our last year's defectors. You could almost see that sh!tstorm coming, even though most of us didn't want to believe it. Last year, I couldn't wait for NSD so "our guys" couldn't leave. This year, I have no doubt our class will get only stronger with the quality of our pledges so far. I feel we will be able to cherry pick some very highly rated recruits toward the fall. The only thing we need to do to make that happen is to win. At the end of the day, all recruits want to go somewhere they can be successful.

The freaks out from the masses are inevitable. Once Notre Dame drops a game or two this fall, it will happen.

I think it mostly depends on who we're losing to and in what fashion. If we lose to Michigan because we have 5 turnovers and blow a 17 point lead, then yes. However, if we lose to USC or OU in a close, well-fought game, then no. It's possible that we could lose 3-4 games and still be viewed as a program on the rise. Kids will understand that. Don't get me wrong, UM doesn't have the recruiting year it's had thus far if it doesn't have the season it has last year, whether by luck or skill. At the end you're partially correct- wins matter, but the type of kids we want to represent this school are smart enough to see beyond just Ws and Ls. I think...

Yeah. They do seem like a solid bunch. But it's early yet. We shall see.

I do wonder, though, if the general trend towards more earlier commits will mean fewer flips late in the game? Or maybe just more?

That's what you get for having a 16 year old (Larry Small from chatsport) doing interviews with recruits...

Company congratulated him on being sought after. Only a moron would read so far into that to think he committed. Its this guy Patrick Rich who tweeted at 247 about it that started the rumor. Had he looked at the conversation between ChatIrish and Rochell there would be nothing to make him believe he had committed. He gave Chatsports a shout-out, meaning he would do an interview. Hence the thanks and someone will contact you via Facebook.

IMHO, unless something drastic happens, Rochell will be sending his LOI to ND on Feb 1, 2013. He wants to major or minor in Theology and where better to do that than at the hollowed grounds of Notre Dame. Also, he has been quoted saying ND is far away the leader right now. I really have no idea how we don't land this kid. Getting him and Smith will surpass the Lynch/Tuitt haul.

Can't support this statement. It would be awesome though.

Only one way to find out.

There were a few other guys, like Williams, Councell, Rasaba, Werewolf, I mean Grace, etc in that haul. I would hate to lose scope of that because we can get so enamored with star power, can't we?

Rochell and Smith + Muhammed or Vanderdoes would be very close to the Lynch, Tuitt, Williams haul

For a kid who has questions about home sickness. Today wasn't exactly reassuring.

Hope he can understand that everyone has a unique experience.

We don't know the whole Lynch story.

Perhaps early playing time is just the thing for this young man.

Everyone that goes away to college has home sickness. Probably 95% of the current ND players experienced homesickness. Aaron was just immature and had an attitude that didnt fit with the rest of the ND players. Seriously, even athletes who stay in-state experience homesickness.

Seriously, this. They're 18 year old kids who move away for the first time. All of us have had to handle it at any given time, and we make do. If kids didn't, no one would graduate from college. And besides, a few years in, who even goes back home during school that often. That's why you're right, Aaron obviously couldn't handle it.
