Ofcourse Kiper also has Gabbert going 1...ugg

The only draft pundit I listen to is Mayock and Im not being a homer. I've thought he was the best for years now.

I am very glad he is doing ND games now, huge upgrade. Word is the players love having him as their announcer as well, I know for one Gary Gray referenced it.

I felt bad for him last year during the draft when he lost his voice. I thought he might lose it again during the season, but remembered that Hammond can't shut up to let him speak enough.

I don't think Carolina is going to draft a QB number one unless it is a sure thing, as they like to say-like how everyone rated Luck. Jimmy has had one year in the system, as a rookie, with a terrible supporting cast from the OL, to the WRs and RBs. No way do they grab Gabbert number one. I'm sure they're going to do their due diligence and interview everyone--dinner, etc., but I think they go defensive line.

If we can get rid of Hammond now, we'd be set. I love Mayock and he was a great pickup.

I just don't understand why Carolina wouldn't pick a stud defensive player, have one more year of misery, and draft their coveted QB next year. Is that not the best of both worlds. If they aren't absolutely in love with a QB on the board, and don't love Jimmy, don't compromise.

Agreed that team has far to many holes to use up a pick on a qb

So many QBs are going to be great, and very few pan out. None of these QBs are that lovable, in my opinion. It's all up to the team, but I just don't see Carolina doing it, and it doesn't make too much sense when there are defensive studs there for the taking.

I dunno...I like Gabbert. I think he's going to be very good. I've seen a lot of Big12 games this year (down here in TX) and I've gotten to watch him quite a few times. Gotta love his size and arm.

McShay tweeted this morning that his completion percentage on throws over 15 yards is 38%. Not great.

My guess is that if someone is in love with Gabbert, they'll trade up to CAR. Carolina is dangling him out there trying to stir the pot and see what they can get. They have too many holes to grab another QB.

I'd like to see the % of rest of the QB's coming out. Besides, he plays at MIZZOU. I'm not saying he's perfect, but I do like him and think he'll be good. But you're right, it's something to consider.

McShay in an earlier tweet stated that Gil Brandt, who is da man, told him to take a look at Gabbert's comp percent over 15 yards.

Yeah it's not an end all stat, just something to look at and put in with the rest of the body of work. I'm not in love with any QB in this draft. Justin Tuck had a great point on Cam Newton the other day as well. Thinks he will not be a good NFL QB - you can't rely on athleticism in the NFL like you can in College. I have to agree with him, he scares me way too much to spend a high draft pick on.

Will do my best. I thought for sure we were going defense with #17, so I had been researching interior line prospects. I think I would have opted for JJ Watt here, but tackle will become an issue down the road, too, so I think yours was a solid pick. Interior line is a big immediate need, so I can't totally discount that at #28, either.

I think you're right, though, that who they take at #17 is probably a moot point because they will most likely not make the 17th pick. They have the picks to package to move up the board for someone they're targeting, and they also love to add picks by moving back. I would be pretty surprised if they did neither.

Cam Newton is jsut another VY. Dumb and athletic. I called that months ago when people were hyping him up. It takes more than speed and a nice arm to make it in the league.

I love trashing VY fans down here. Makes life a little more tolorable.

I think he is actually a better prospect as a pure passer than VY. I don't think they are as similar as you think but the dumb and athletic terms are quite accurate. Listening to Cam Newton talk for me is extremely painful and I have to change the channel. His Heisman speech lasted about 40 seconds before I clicked off, he's absolutely brutal to listen to.

With the 18th pick in the NFL Draft the San Diego Chargers select Aldon Smith DE from Missouri. Aldon is a ultra talented very raw defensive end hybrid OLB type of player. I think he is a very good fit in the the San Diego defense. Larry English has been a disappointment so far. I believe Aldon can be both the Rush OLB and a DE naturally, which is why I believe they went with Aldon over a couple other guys. They need upgrades at both positions which is why he is the pick. Seems to be an easy pick with a player of this caliber that fell this far.

Kerrigan, Watt, and Clayborn still on the board for defensive ends. I like Watt personally, and I'm shocked he hasn't gone yet, but he's a different type of player than Smith.

Was stuck in between 3 players for this pick, and had to choose between need and value in the 19th pick. The 3 top DE's available are of no need and no real value, so they can be ruled out. The 3 that I had to choose from are RB Mark Ingram, OT Gabe Carimi, and OLB Akeem Ayers. Carimi and Ayers represent good picks in a position of need for the Giants, while I believe Ingram to be the best player on the board while also playing a position that the Giants could use an influx of talent in. The Giants have always been good at developing talent on the offensive line from draft picks in later rounds, and have Beatty waiting in the wings to pick up the tackle slack, so the Carimi pick is out.

While Ayers would be the smart pick here, and probably one that the Giants will do if put in this position, I will go ahead and draft RB Mark Ingram from Alabama for the Giants at the 19th pick. Ahmad Bradshaw is a free agent, and would have to be resigned at a significant pay raise in order to stay a Giant. While drafting Ingram would present a problem in that the 2 main backs would be more of the power variety, I think that is a decent problem to have for one year, and they could always use Ware for a 3rd down or change of pace back. Talents like Ingram are rare, and he is too much of a talent to pass up at this point, especially when Jacobs has recessed so much and Bradshaw is fumble-prone free agent. OLB or OT will have to be the target of the draft from this point forward, but I believe that with Boley on one side, we can plug the other with either a free agent or a later draft pick and not suffer too much considering the pass rushers and secondary we possess. I would much rather draft an extra, special talent at RB than never forgive myself for passing up on the next Emmitt Smith, especially with the rest of the Giants' defense being relatively stout.

It's a tough position to be in because drafting for need can blow up in the faces of front offices league wide. Ingram is a good, solid back but I just wasn't convinced that he was the long term answer for the Dolphins at 15. I like Kory Sheets but he's unproven at this point, but Ingram's lack of speed will be a huge detriment if he goes to a team with a poor line. The Giants don't have that issue so it should work out.

Tampa Bay - Ryan Kerrigan

The Bucs need a force at pass rush. Ryan Kerrigan is the man. With a combination of speed at strength he'll be able to get the job done.

The Bucs have been showing promising signs on offense, and Kerrigan is the type of guy who can help show promises on the defense.

Thanks for volunteering everyone. It hasn't even been close to 24 hours for fitz yet, but you're all on the emergency selection list, so if we have no shows, you guys are in the hole for filling those slots. Legacy is going to go to the front of the line, and you can have my New Orleans pick if you want, it's extra.

If someone wants to hop in on this now, look at the front page and see who has two picks, kindly PM them and ask if you can have one of their picks. If they have picked in an emergency situation, they don't have to give up their original pick. If you were allotted an extra slot when we were trying to fill out the draft, it would be great if you can allow someone else to take that pick, if they want it.
