Any idea what the issue could be? I hope he isn't in any legal trouble
This is what I was coming here to say. Nana I believe is more of a SDE, but he can play WDE. If Jordan is out for the 2021 season I think Nana and Osita would step in and take the reps. If this is true it sucks, but it’s not the end of the world.
Edit: I also think Jason Onye could make a few spot appearances at WDE to use his athleticism and rush the passer. Eventually Onye is a SDE, but he could help out at Vyper this upcoming season.

Are we looking at a possibility of Botelho not being apart of the program? If I remember correctly didn't he punch another kid at the end of his high school career?
Character issues for Botelho??
Sounds like that’s the case. Don’t know if it’s academic or personal.
This is so Aaron Lynch 2.0 that it hurts. We're a long distance girlfriend away from the exact same story line...
Is this just a guess or from a reliable source?
I mistakenly left off Osita from the Vyper depth chart.
But I think there is a big difference between an option and a good/playoff worthy option. Some of the options are non starters, IMO. If you read all the paid sites rankings of best players on the team, guys like Onye and Nana are not near the top of those lists. At least not yet. Where the LB’s are littered all over it. I think the staff would much rather get more LB’s involved than play a some of these guys out of position. I mean, we have White, Bauer, Liufau, Kiser, and Kollie (the highest rated defender from last class). Those would all seem to be of bigger priority than Onye or Nana at Vyper.
Keeping in mind that we don’t need to play a Vyper to be successful. If this comes to fruition, it shouldn’t be about fielding the best Vyper. It should be about fielding the best 11-22 defenders. Nana very well could be a part of that but I doubt Onye is. And it shouldn’t be at Vyper just because we lost one.
I was wondering if Marist could slide into the Vyper position on pass rush situations and Simon could play the WILL spot. Marist’s best asset I saw last year was blitzing into the backfield. I’m intrigued with both of those guys on the field at the same time. I’m on the minority here, but I think Simon puts it all together this year and has a big year. Freeman’s defense should help Simon reach his potential as he doesn’t have to think so much and shouldn’t be hesitant like he has been on the past.

I’ve got no info on this one. Seems personal or disciplinary rather than academic though. I think if it was a done deal that he’s gone that we’d already know, but it certainly doesn’t look good.

The gist of it seems to be. Not done for the year. Though no resolution yet. NCAA not involved. And doesn’t believe it’s academics or drugs related.

didnt he get sent back to Hawaii last year for not being Covid compliant or something?
Long time forum viewer, 1st time poster. I don't have access to the premium boards, so am certainly missing some details some of the other posters here may have (although it sounds like there hasn't been much in terms of concrete information).
All that being said, and this thought is all speculation, I do remember him having issues with COVID compliance a while back. ND is also requiring its students to be fully vaccinated for the fall semester (with the exception of a few religious and medical exemptions). Perhaps he is refusing the vaccine or some other measure of COVID compliance. We are getting close enough to the fall semester where the issue of not being vaccinated would be coming up.
From Prister, vibe seems slightly different. Could be drugs related, but the NCAA hasn't tested him. Could also be done for the year, or not, too early to tell. But, it's probably all or nothing, meaning a 4 game suspension like we've seen in the past seems very unlikely.
Personally, I'm preparing for pain.
