Reps, I thought about posting those names earlier but figured most would say "Who?"

Back then ('95 I believe) "the man with no neck" was considered a throw in by many recrutiniks. Bpbby turned out to a valued producer with one of the most memorable INT TDs in ND history.

I recall Bobby also being one of 20 children.

Bobby Howard was part of my favorite LB trio at ND.....Howard, Minor and Friday the 13th. Nasty group.

It's recruiting, so anything can happen but I'd be utterly shocked if Auburn was under serious consideration. He's enjoying the process. He's visited and planning to visit a lot of schools when all is said and done.

Fair enough. Kids should enjoy the process, and I'd agree you don't go to Auburn if you're a serious wide receiver (especially if not from around there). I just get skeptical when I see us competing with certain schools. Auburn's one of them.

Normally I'd agree and made mention of it in Trey Smith's thread. I guess my point is, I don't think we are competing with Auburn. He will have visited 3 times, so I completely understand why someone would think that. However, from what I've read on what his decision will eventually come down to, I don't see anyway he ends up there.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but maybe it was in CJ's thread, not sure. Tarik and CJ have been playing football together since Pop Warner. They both say it's not a defining part of the process but I'm sure it means something.

public decision won’t come until January, but one school has already received his silent verbal. Notre Dame only has one wide out currently listed in its commitment column, but it’s more like two. Black is a prep teammate of running back commitment C.J. Holmes

That reads awfully like they think he is currently a silent for us, no?

If a kid wants to silent verbal to me, but wait until January to announcement and continue to visit other places in the meantime, I'm not treating his commitment as much of anything and continuing to recruit for his scholarship.

Haven't watched his film but his ratings and offers seem like a no brainer. What do you guys see on film that makes you not like him, for those that don't?

I was told he was a silent commit a couple of weeks ago so this pretty much confirms it to me.

So... What happens when he gets an offer from OSU in the 11th hour?

Black's problem with his other suitors is:

OSU has a better version of him in Trevon Grimes coming in along with a bigger version in Jaylen Harris... to go along with Tyjon Lindsey.

Bama has Jerry Jeudy, Jeff Thomas, Devonta Smith & Henry Ruggs all in line.

Michigan has big time roadblocks in DPJ & Nico Collins plus flavor of the month Oliver Martin.

Stanford has the Admissions office, an entire continent in between his bedroom and his dorm room and the only game his parents will ever see on tv is... their yearly ND game.

ND has his teammate and his silent commit.

This one has been wrapped w/ bow since he & Holmes decided they were going to ND.

I really hate "silent" commits but I prefer them over no commits. Sounds like he's all ours and I think we get OSB. I feel this year's WR class is very important. Other than Hunter, who could very well leave for the NFL after this season, we have no proven players. The last two classes were great but if we lose players like we did with Guyton, we will need the numbers. I'm very excited to watch how ESB, Boykin and others show what they've got this year.

Agreed. This is a big WR class for ND. If they can real in OSB, they will surely get ARSB (who is said to be the best of the group).

How come you never seem to watch film on the prospects?

I like him. He doesn't have great speed, but that's fine with me. Seems to have good hands and now how to position his body.

Because like all things, he prefers to come on IE to ask everyone's opinion first.

Then does the opposite.

I'm wondering what color he'll stain his wooden spoon, magenta like the Dyson V6 or purple like the Shark NV22?

I promised myself long ago not to get involved with non ND football related topics but it's been a loooooong off season.

Don't complain, you normally have to pay top dollar for entertainment like that.

I'm a busy man and there are people on here who can breakdown film better than I, like Lucci, NDCrusuider, etc.
