"Green jacket, gold jacket, who gives a sh*t." - Happy Gilmore

But seriously, Clemson fans/players are obnoxious. They are reaching so hard for bulletin board material that I'm beginning to think it's all just a big inside joke, and that the young men will be proper gentlemen and great sports come Saturday night.

(Either way, they will have no choice. When the o-line starts mauling in the trenches and Jaylon and co. start flying around and cracking skulls, the Clemson players will feel a strong desire to be nice and to save themselves further pain. THAT IS BULLETIN BOARD MATERIAL. COME AT ME CLEMSON BITCHES. WE SKRONG. #SAVAGE.)

Listening to ISD podcast, and they brought up the topic of one OL hasn't played well all 4 games and talked about if they should consider benching him. They said they wouldn't name names. Are they talking Elmer or Martin? I thought Elmer has played well so far but I guess I haven't played that close of attention. Could be Martin because they mentioned being 'a position of leadership'.

Definitely Martin. Watched BK get after him quite a bit in the UMASS game.

Word on the helmets, guess they are chrome. Good for them.

I have never had the weather make me feel so confident. But if its raining cats and dogs, I think we win this game easily. We have a distinct advantage in the trenches and Clemson isn't built for that type of game. I see Watson throwing a couple picks and CJ rushing for over 200 in a game dominated from start to finish by the Irish.

Rain worries me when ND is the better team. Plays become unpredictable with fumbles and DBs slipping to create wide open deep receivers.

I'd rather play a game with the least amount of luck involved.

When was the last time we lost a game in the rain?

Honestly I don't recall, but I've personally been to three wins in this type of weather (USC, scUM & Stanford). It doesn't seem to me like the rain has treated us poorly for the most part. I could be wrong.

When I first saw rain in the forecast I became extremely nervous. Then, I thought to myself how well this team can effectively run the ball. I really do like our chances.

Rain = advantage for ND IMO. The Irish O line is stronger and I think the front seven of the Irish defense is better overall as well. Driving rain limits the passing game and right now I think Clemson has to rely on their skill position wide outs to make plays. If it's wet but not raining then the Clemson passing game comes more in to play.

Still listening to ISD. They indirectly just called out Schmidt (like Martin), and unlike Martin, they said they'd make a change if it were their call.

Schmidt makes some fine plays. The problem is that he also doesn't make a lot of plays that he should make due to lack of physical ability. It's much harder for people to recognize when someone doesn't get to the ball than when they do.

Again, I'm not blaming Schmidt, I'm blaming BVG for having a defense that is so confusing that a number of multi-year starters need a coach on the field to line them up. I really wish we'd let Morgan learn on the job, but I guess we haven't had a ton of time to do that. Thought he should have gotten in earlier vs. UMASS, but oh well.

So the talk of Clemson's abysmal record against ranked teams got me doing some research.

Clemson is 4-16 all-time in Death Valley vs. AP Top 10 teams. Notre Dame comes into Saturday's game ranked No. 6 in the AP Top 25.

1953 No. 3 Maryland L 0-20
1955 No. 2 Maryland L 12-25
1967 No. 5 Georgia L 17-24
1967 No. 10 NC State W 14-6
1969 No. 7 Georgia L 0-30
1970 No. 9 Auburn L 0-44
1976 No. 9 Georgia L 0-41
1977 No. 10 Maryland L 14-21
1977 No. 5 Notre Dame L 17-21
1981 No. 4 Georgia W 13-3
1984 No. 9 S. Carolina L 21-22
1988 No. 10 FSU L 21-24
1992 No. 5 FSU L 20-24
1995 No. 1 FSU L 26-45
1997 No. 5 FSU L 28-35
1997 No. 8 UNC L 10-17
1999 No. 1 FSU L 14-17
2003 No. 3 FSU W 26-10
2013 No. 5 Georgia W 38-35

2013 No. 5 FSU L 14-51

Clemson is 1-5 all-time vs. an AP top 10 teams at home when it is ranked in the top 25.

The Tigers are 1-2 vs. top 10 teams in Death Valley when both teams are ranked in the top 10.

The first time Clemson played a top 10 team in Death Valley when it too was ranked in the top 25 came in 1977 when the Tigers lost to No. 5 Notre Dame.

Is it Saturday yet?

This is as good an analysis as it is going to logically get. These are the key matchups. Anyone of them will make a huge impact in the game which i expect to be a close one. I am calling for a 10 point ND win but it will be a close 10 point win.

I know Irish fans and some of the sports media are fully aware of the ability of our OL, but I think this is the week their consistent dominance really begins to draw them attention nationwide in terms of being on the 2012 Alabama OL level. Particularly Big Q who I think is going to completely maul the interior of Clemson's D this week, especially in the rain.

a big piece that hopefully won't be missing is Luatua...i know Nic did a good job when he was in the umass game, but clemson is a different beast w/ active dlineman w/ athleticism...i want an experienced guy in there plus he is our best blocker...we shall find out tonight whether he is a go or not

Agree completely.

I hope this game doesn't remind us what we lost when Folston went down. Our RBs have shown they can run through massive holes but can they take the 1-4 yards given and be patient until something opens up.

Clemson is a whole different beast and our OL better show up, ready to play. (and our TEs and WRs better not give a subpar effort either).

Courtesy of Jayron Kearse, "All the defensive backs saw it," Kearse said. "We actually were talking about it in a group message. We all saw it. Hey, I'm ready for the challenge. And I hope he is ready for the challenge. Because we're going to bring it."

"They're headed for a rude awakening. They haven't faced nobody like us. We'll be the best team they play all year, hands-down.

"And they've never seen (an environment) like this, not even close. They won't face one through the season."

Side note, its pretty interesting playing against some of these really talented prospects that we recruited pretty hard just a few years back.

Jayron kearse has a nice past....

I know it was last year, but Prosise and the OL had a lot of success against the LSU front, which was much better than this Clemson squad we'll be facing Saturday night.

Prosise had three carries in that game. Think he means we haven't seen CJ consistently be able to pound it 20 times between the tackles against a legit d-line.
