Really hoping I can make the trip down to South Carolina for this game. I've alway wanted to go to a Clemson, it would be even better if they were playing ND

Irish are 1-1 against Clemson all time, and the last meeting was '79. Time to take an edge and start these regular match-ups the right way.

This would be a great one to go to, and is so far above the rest of the schedule on the "want to go" list it isn't even close IMO.

This game is the week before my wedding. I've been pushing my best man to make this the bachelor party.

Looks like they have a good young team, only losing their starting QB I think. Their back up played good this year in some games.

They are losing the QB who played in the bowl game, but he is not the normal starter. The starter is Deshaun Watson and he is a stud. He had knee surgery and that is why he didn't play in the bowl.

Working on getting tickets to this one. Will be an awesome game and environment.

My brother went to clemson so my whole family is hoping to get down there for this one. My brother says tickets to this one are probably going to be VERY hard to come by. But if you can get some tickets you definitely won't be disappointed. Clemson is a fantastic place to watch a game! Great fans, great tailgating, and weather should be perfect in early October.

Some friends and I are looking into hotel options and everything seems to already be booked up or ridiculously expensive. We've also looked into renting a house or apartment with similar results.

Does anyone know of some alternative options? I.e. a nearby city with cheap transportation to Clemson or maybe an RV rental company?

We will be there Friday and Saturday night and want to be able to drink without someone needing to DD. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Try VRBO.com, vacation rental by owner. I have used it many times and always had a great experience. Lots of places to stay Friday thru Sunday. These are private homes, cabin or condos.

They lose basically their entire 2 deep on D.

In addition to losing their starting four defensive linemen, Clemson lost three of their five starting offensive linemen. Clemson also lost two starting LBs. Of their twelve seniors in 2015, only two were starters last year.

In other words, if we don't put up 50+ on these guys, then there's a problem. (No italics)

As much as I hate bullying, I could probably manage a grimaced grin at 50+.

(As the margin of victory.)

Because Clemson recruits like crap, right?

So if ND puts up 35 points, the offense had an AWFUL night? 42 points means the offense sucks? 48 points and you start another bash Kelly thread?

C'mon man.

You could have Alabama's level of recruiting success, but replacing pretty much the entire defense is still a huge problem. You don't just replace guys like Vic Beasley and Corey Crawford 2 with just any Joe Schmo, even if he is a 4-star guy. We've recruited better than Clemson, but if we had to replace our entire defense and went up against Clemson's offense, I wouldn't be surprised if it garnered a similar result. Hell, we kinda already saw that on full display last year against ASU and USC.

Again, FIFTY points. Against Clemson. And if we don't, then "there's a problem". There is soooooo much that goes into a game...if we score 35 points but chew the clock up by running the ball, and we win, then there's no friggin' problem. If the offense doesn't get the ball for a lot of possessions, but we make the most of it and score 28 points and win, then there's no problem.

CW's 2009 offense with Clausen, Floyd, Tate and Rudolph was lights out. Never even got to 40. CW's 2005 offense was insane. Never got to 50. Your arbitrary number of 50 "or we have problems" doesn't make sense to me, and I'd imagine many ND fans would agree. If we look bad offensively against Clemson, then I'll agree with you. But if we look good, and we scored 28 points, and we win, then I disagree 100%.

I was more making a statement as to their lack of defensive experience. The 50+ was simply a tool to get that point across. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously (though given how good their offense is, we may possibly need 50+ to win that one). It was more the simple matter of us having to look good offensively.

As for your comparisons to the CW offenses, rookie mistake there buddy. CW offenses had a MAJOR flaw, which was well apparent in the 2009 system. That being, the lack of redzone efficiency and the lack of a consistent running game. I can remember so many times, driving down the field only for the offense to stall at the 10 yard line and having to settle for a field goal.

The guy who once stated that the tandem of Hegarty and Stanley would have a better year than Martin and Watt (LOL...how'd that work out?) is telling me about rookie mistakes. Gotta love it. Point remains that your 'fifty' was a stupid number to say an offense has problems if they can't hit that number against a team that recruits like Clemson. OSU didn't score 50 against Minnesota or Indiana...did that offense have problems too?

And those CW offenses, while not perfect, were good enough to win a ton of ball games. It was the defense the effed them. If you can't see that. I don't know what to tell you.
