NDAccountant,

You know how many timeouts a play that complicated would cause this team? We might need to borrow from the 2nd half... Of the Stanford game.

That was such a weird recruitment. Mackenzie is a strange bird.

I get that, and have worked with WRs in a spread offense... I just prefer plays of any type that don't negate any directional momentum that may be won by the play design... just me.

This would be a good time to bring out the "bubble and go". The two lead blockers start to block, QB fakes the throw to the receiver and the outside lead blocker takes off on a fly pattern. DB's haev already come up hard and the safety has already committed himself. I've seen a couple of teams use it. Would be tough to stop if Fuller is the fly guy.

All jokes aside, I do think ND can line up and run the ball and have success. Starting out, Clemson will be selling out to make the defensive plays. I would be happy seeing the Irish not try and get cute but run high percentage plays that can negate some of the Tiger aggressiveness. An over the top to Fuller in the first series would help keep them somewhat honest even if it doesn't succeed.

As the game settles in, I like the Irish O Line and think some good old fashion four yards and a pile of dust will work. Then over the top to Fuller or some nice slants, crossing routes, and fades should open up, especially against man to man coverage. Jones could be pivotal here.

I like the fake bubble screen deep ball that we ran last year for a TD. Great play.

I'm thinking first play is a flea flicker, pump fake deep only to throw to the sideline for a bubble screen, but the wide receiver cuts back in to turn it all into a tunnel screen.......... For a 2 yard loss.

Any solid Intel on the weather for this game with the hurricane barreling down the coast?

This is going to be a sloppy game for the big uglies, CJP and DK to dominate in the slop. As long as UA sends cleats that are as long as Nike's... this ballgame's O-vah.

6 inches of rain between now and the end of the game. 3" on Saturday alone and it could be A LOT worse depending on where Hurricane Juaquin decides to make landfall. Early models have it most likely dropping 12"+ in south central NC up into southern VA.

Here's the Greenville forecast:

The way the weather is looking, may be heavy doses of Prosise, Adams, and Kizer running all night

which would be fine with me.....

I think Clemson and USC are the only two games on our schedule where rain would work to our advantage.

Edit: I guess maybe UMASS as well with that offense.

agreed. I truly believe the OL is steadily improving - and by steadily I mean not game by game but play by play. By the end of the 3rd against UMass...... they were so in sync it was like watching clockwork movements.

Yes it is.

Tifway 419 Bermuda. Bring your 3 wood, you oughta get a great lie anywhere on the field.

I would say it would help with navy too, with all the pitching they do

I'm just always afraid of rough weather helping an underdog. It always seems to even the playing field. I just think with Clemson/SC that their passing attacks are much more worrisome than their run game. I don't think either is particularly strong against the run either.

Good chance Navy would fumble it a couple times in rain, but if they played a clean game they would def be within striking distance of us going into the 4th in a rainy game IMO.

I would love an absolute torrential downpour. Takes crowd out the game, and it lends itself to a "who's tougher?" type of contest that we are much better designed for than "let's see whose DBs cover deep balls betters."

My kind of game

You're all scientifical and shit cack, and you're local, macgyver some molecular bubble machine that creates a mini hurricane every time Clemson has the ball...

Courtesy of Jayron Kearse, "All the defensive backs saw it," Kearse said. "We actually were talking about it in a group message. We all saw it. Hey, I'm ready for the challenge. And I hope he is ready for the challenge. Because we're going to bring it."

"They're headed for a rude awakening. They haven't faced nobody like us. We'll be the best team they play all year, hands-down.

"And they've never seen (an environment) like this, not even close. They won't face one through the season."

Side note, its pretty interesting playing against some of these really talented prospects that we recruited pretty hard just a few years back.

““For some perspective, 10 of our top 150 draft-eligible prospects will be playing in this game on Saturday, and all 10 of them will be wearing gold helmets.”

Todd McShay”

Why does everyone talk about Clemson like they are the epitome of a southern ACC-SEC mega power? What has anyone proved this year?

Just like GeoTech, they have a lot of replacement in their starting lineup, including 8, repeat eight on defense!

Eight new defensive players on their defense, against our offensive line. I checked; no unit on either team has had as consistent of a performance across all games as the ND offensive line. That is in four against three (games) with only one of the three Clemson has played having the level of talent that ND has faced in all four games.

And earlier, someone was making a big point about how tough Clemson has been at home only losing a few games in the last three years . . . How many other tough teams came into their house and lost? Maybe one, Georgia in '13?

This weekend should be fun to be Irish!

FYI, that 'top 10' doesn't include true sophomores/RS freshman. Not saying that drastically changes anything, but Clemson has some young players that are real dawgs who are not counted in that 'who are the 10 most talented'.

So do we, but most haven't seen the field yet whereas Clemson's are playing right now.
