I'm guessing Fenway will be at about 40,000 for football. So BC gets 1/8 of that. If there are anywhere near 25% BC fans once it's all said and done, then ND fans have some serious 'splainin' to do.

Looks like a shared sideline and they won't be adding capacity from the normal baseball seating. I would have thought for sure that they'd bring in temporary bleachers on the left field grass.

Maybe I am the only one that feels this way, but I think playing there is really a stupid thing. Yes, there is charm being there. But for me, I prefer more of this:

And less of this:

Agreed. I just don't care about playing in Boston, and would much rather play in Gillette Stadium. Feels like in an attempt to make a unique spectacle, they are forcing a square peg in a round hole.

Is this going to turn into one of those things where both teams have to go the same direction to avoid an unsafe endzone?

That, combined with shared sidelines, seems kind of bootleg. I think the idea is cool, and it will be unique to see on TV, but the logistics just don't seem too great haha.

Why the shared sideline? Is it because the first couple rows of seats by the 3rd-base line won't be able to see over a sideline of players? Kind of lame.

I'm all for the game being at Fenway though despite that. Gillette would be kind of cool so that the players could use the Pats locker room and see some of the facilities there (I know most ppl hate them, but it would be thrill for any college player to use the same facilities as the team that has won 4 super bowls since 2001), but I really think Fenway is the way to go here. It will be a much more memorable experience and guaranteed to drum up much more media attention than playing in a Pro stadium. Plus Fenway will sell out and Gillette would not.

I thought last year's Shamrock game was incredibly boring. 2013 ASU was good cause the opponent was good. 2009 game down in Texas against Washington State was boring....as was 2011 against Maryland.

It really just comes down to who you play. ND/Miami in 2012 or ND/ASU in 2013 would have been memorable games no matter where they played...they could have plated at the Jaguars stadium or in Lambeau and they would have been awesome games. If you can't play a high-profile team, I'd rather just have them play in as unique a location as possible. ND/Army in 2010 was great despite the weak opponent. Purdue/Maryland Shamrock games weren't even a blip on the national radar.

It looks like there is enough room down the right field line for a team to use it as their sideline no? I can only assume they are using a shared sideline because of how low the seating can be close to the field in a baseball stadium.

It does seem like the endzone in right field is going to be a little tight. Might have to do the one endzone arrangement.

Wizards, you're right, there seems plenty of room to get more seating in left field.

No, Swarbrick addressed that question specifically when the game was first announced. The baseball field dimensions would be tight but the front walls of the bullpens in right field come off so they'll have some extra room to work with.

Especially with the Monster being so high, it certainly wouldn't block anyone's view.

Agreed with those who'd just as soon not play at Fenway. It'll be an "event," but that's it.
I went to the Army game at Yankee Stadium a few years ago and, frankly, the sight lines were lousy. Baseball = Football from a fan's perspective in the seats.
They'll probably be even worse at Fenway, which doesn't really have much of an upper deck and where the vast majority of seats will be one end zone or the other. And the weather for a night game the Saturday before Thanksgiving will probably be just peachy.
I live in Boston. May take my kid to some of the pregame festivities. But come kickoff, I think I'll save the $200 and watch on TV.

More than that you'll be saving. Unless you have a connection or luck out with the ND lottery, I think the cheapest tix will go for a minimum of $750.

*Gulp*. I'm hoping the time of year keeps it down a bit. I put in for tickets in the lottery but I'm not at the full $1,500 donor level so my odds are pretty shitty I think. I'm dying to go to this game, especially since my sister will be a freshman at BC this year.

ETA: Y'all are crazy. This is awesome.

Agreed. Will be a great event all around. It's tough to beat Fenway.

Alumni ticket lottery results are out.

I didn't get Fenway tix sadly. If someone somehow has access to some extras I would pay $$...

I hate BC. Worst fans ever. Timing of this game right before the end of the season scares me. I won tickets but damn if I'm not afraid to go. Don't think I could handle watching a loss in person to those a$$hats.

Could be worse. We could be undefeated and BC could have been the last game of the regular season. That's history that's not worth repeating.

I'm fairly confident that this is the "trap game" this year... in large part because I think BC will be much better than most expect.
