“Looking at film of Tristen Hoge isn’t as easy,” said Anderson. “Center is a tough position to look at film only. You need to see your center's face to tell you what kind of player he is. So much of it is mental for them. Is he athletic enough to reach a zero-technique nose guard? Can he pull and block linebackers in space? Can he anchor down on a bull rush from a good big defensive tackle? Can he lead your offensive line?
“Hoge has good leg drive. He can reach blocks pretty good, even though against better competition he is going to have to improve his hat placement. He stops his feet on contact. He has a nasty attitude that you want your center to have. He does a great job of finishing blocks. He’s a solid pass blocker. Centers are rarely 1-on-1, but when he is in that situation, he does a solid job. He tends to get straight-legged at times, but he still he can move high school defensive linemen with ease. He has a nice pop when he's gets to the second level. He's worthy of the accolades he's been given throughout his high school career. On the next level, he has some technical stuff to clean up, but will be good.”
