Sure it is. Because it's Tech, not USC or LSU or Bama or Texas or etc. etc. You can grow up a fan, but you don't literally dream of playing football at a place like Tech. No one does. Well, no one but McKenzie.

Here's a counterpoint... find me any other player outside the state of Virginia that prior to committing has ever called Tech their dream school. As another experiment, go ask all the Tech people you know if Tech was their dream school growing up. Not if they really liked it or if they were a fan, but if it was the #1 place they DREAMED of going over any other possible school.

You say you know people whose dream school was Tech, and I literally do not believe you. I want names and statements.

Lax,

Par for the course. This kid LOVES the recruiting game.

Wait until after NSD, and there is no more attention. Wait until conditioning in the hot summer, and then in fall camp when he is 3rd on the depth chart and there are no fans to cheer for him and no one to beg him to go their school on twitter, and he's got coaches yelling at him and he's struggling to see the field, and then he's got to work on a paper after practice.

I was thinking the same thing. There's liking the recruiting process, but it appears he can't put together a plan and complete it. He seems to let anything and everyone effect his next step without thinking things through.

Those kids just either don't choose to come to ND or they don't last. See: Vanderdouche, Eddie.

Loy just talked to him. VaTech offer was big for him. May visit there this weekend instead of ND because he has been to ND and knows he could like it if he chose to go there. Doesn't think unofficial and official would be very different. Talked to Alford tonight about it and said the talk was a good one. He will call Alford tomorrow morning with his decision on where he's visiting this weekend. He won't commit this weekend regardless of where he visits and wants to announce on NSD.

Didn't he say he wanted to visit again because the last time he was at ND school was out and he wanted to meet some students and see what the school was like while in session?

Hey, whenever you can turn down Notre Dame for a school (lesser academically and athletically) that became your dream because you saw highlights of a QB (not your position) they once had (dog fighting aside) and loved them, you gotta do it. Props to IM.

Evidently his standards aren't real high.

So if he cancels the ND OV which HE personally called BK to confirm just two days ago, you have to think we finally pull this offer.

I wouldn't be surprised, but I could also see them putting his recruitment on the back burner and just let it play out since we have room.

Haha. The emotional swings on this thread is great. Is this going to be an all-time classic when it's all said and done?

The cherry on the top will be when he actually commits and then either gets out of his commitment for a sick uncle or transfers within a year for unspecified misconduct.

Usually I would give a bunch of shits. And I would be like "see! recruits read message boards!"

But McKenzie calling out others for being "fake ass people" is maybe the single most ironic thing I've ever seen a recruit say.

We've got people trashing the school that has been discussed on more than one occasion as his favorite, we've got people all over the internet questioning his ability to cut it at ND when the staff obviously sees something in his ability to make it, and we've got people turned off by the fact that he is playing the recruiting game/hat dance so late now that he's qualified.

Anonymous strangers on the internet speculating about his entire future because of some non-terrible odd decisions in the last month? Can't see why he's upset.

One of my good friends in high school wanted nothing more than to go play football for Beamer at VT. You could say it was his dream school.

Recruiting thread of the year, Ive never seen any of us give so little of a shit if a kid ends up at ND or not now.

Also I understand IM is a kid and loves the attention from recruiting but to single out two negative posts amongst thousands of posts just goes to show you how incredibly narrow sided he is. Look i still want him to ND but i want to see his attitude shift once National signing day goes by the way side.

This is truly the first year I have followed recruiting closely at all and I can say for a fact that I am no better off now than I was ten months ago. I have learned that kids say what they don't really mean, that recruiting is a dirty business from all sides, and some people get rich off trying to forecast what a 17 year old is really thinking. Moving forward, I think I will spend much less time following this mess.

I can understand in the context of recruiting and fanship being frustrated with this situatuon. But, some people really do sound like scorned women lol. I mean, the kid is in high school and just worked his ass off to qualify for D-1 football and is enjoying the process.

Is he enjoying it the right way? Who's to say? Did anyone give him a manual on how to treat spontaneous national attention? I would have been crucified on the Internet if all of my actions were magnified when I was 17. I wasn't working hard in school to up my grades so I could have an array of choices when it came to my future.

Maybe lay off the kid a bit.. It's not like he's goin around suplexing security guards.

Inside or outside the state of Virginia/the DMV?

Outside of Virginia. I understood your point, but there are plenty of people out there who became huge VT fans due to Vick/Beamer.

I probably feel the same way about Baylor as McKenzie does about VT. It's probably an exaggeration to say "dream school," but if I had a Baylor offer it would be hard to turn down. It's kind of the non-traditional "favorite" school, and you take pride in being able to say "they're my favorite!" when others usually don't. It's like being a college football hipster.

Graduating classes of my high school. Look up '03, '04, '05, '06... hundreds of people who went to Tech, never heard a single one call it their dream school.

Again, this is not to say Tech isn't a very good school and that people don't love it/want to go there. I work with tons of engineers from Tech. My HS lacrosse coach went to Tech. I have the utmost respect for that place. But I've heard classmates of mine call Stanford, USC, Harvard, ND, Michigan, UVA, Chicago, Penn, Yale, etc. dream schools for various reasons. Never, ever heard someone say something like that about Tech.

I can conceive of local athletes or kids from Virginia Beach calling it a dream school. Still cannot picture any regular Joe or kid from well out of state who was... 5? 6? when Vick was playing putting it on a pedestal as THE #1 dream place they want to go if they had unlimited options. I look forward to meeting Kane's people.

Psychological projection. It is always psychological projection.

Why?

There needs to be a light shining through. To provide illumination. Otherwise there can be no recognition, or precognition.

In this case there are several lights. Pointing different directions. Each very tiny and dim . . .

That's my take, but I am after all, just another fake person . . .

Interesting. I will say though that McKenzie was like 5 or 6 when Mike Vick was there. And anyone who aspires to be like Marcus... welllll.......... OK then.

Texted ISD this morning saying he's still undecided what he'll do this weekend. Might stay home. Getting frustrated with process.
