Reading that made me feel really good!
Good article minus the 14 championships fallacy.
That sort of tainted it.
With every good thing there is a taint.
What would you put your hangover-recovery time at after the game?
I'm guessing my timeframe will be:
Win=Rest of 2013 will be spent wearing championship swag not giving two s-its about anything stressful related to work or life in general. There will be a certain glow about me that will be obvious, and may even carry into 2014.
Loss=First week back at work (Jan.9) will be ridiculously painful as I slog through those 3 days listening to "I told you so" from dozens of people and walk around like that kid in Peanuts who permanently has a rain cloud over his head. The cloud will probably stay until around signing day.
I wouldn't count '41 and think it's unsupportable. The others are legit. My view is that if a major poll of its era named you NC, then count it. There are some that are debatable as to whether another team was better that year or other major polls named someone else in a split championship, but in 13 seasons at least one of the major polls of that era named us and a reasonable case can be made we deserved it, so I'll count those 13.
The point of posting the article was to enjoy a connection between our two programs and point out the respect some of our current and former coaches, staff, and fans have or had for each other. It wasn't to stir up a debate.

You and other Bama fans are the only ones; '73 especially shows the fantasy quality of the way Bama counts National titles. If ND counted the same way they would have had between seventeen and twenty-one, including '48 undefeated when they were crowned after the regular season, and didn't play in a bowl game. Michigan played the same SC team Notre Dame beat in their season finale, but because UM beat them by a higher point total, a Detroit sports writer reconvened the writers, and got them to "re-vote the same NC" and this time award it to Michigan. You cannot have it both ways.
There are plenty of unbiased articles that support exactly what I have said, argue with them, can't wait for the game!!!!

Wanted get into specifics on Notre Dame ending record streaks in sports. List of streaks and year ended:
Oklahoma football 47 wins - 1947 (Also ended Army's streak which is # 2)
UCLA Mens basketball 88 wins - 1974
North Carolina Women's Soccer 92 wins - 1994
Florida State baseball 25 wins - 2002
UCONN Women's basketball 112 home wins - 2005
Most football national championships by a single conference SEC 6 titles - Jan 2013!
Agree, and by the way the Alabama fans in my neck of the woods do not treat you like you act. I find them to be haters/culturally and geographically biased and just plain nasty at times. I live in West Ga and I know of what I speak. I might add pretty arrogant at this time with the success of the program the last 5 years. The football team gives me the feeling of class and dignity much like Notre Dame but the fans are loudmouth bullies. Maybe the ones that go to the games are different but that more than likely is not the case. Keep in mind this is the same attitude that played 'Take The $$$ And Run' when Auburn played them 2 years ago. Of course Newton may have but thats just showing no class. And they call Notre Dame arrogant every time they get a chance. Its Finebaums favorite line about Notre Dame until the last few weeks. Trust me they're keeping their mouths shut at this time because they think there is a 1% chance Notre Dame will win this game. If they win you'll see the bull$%#@. On the Finebaum show they giggled at some guy teabagging another guy after the LSU game last year. So dont tell me you'll be treated like you act. Plus it sounds pretty condescending to me. I live with this stuff 365 a year so lets just get real and call it what it is.
Thought you were trying to make friends here lol.......

Seriously? How about all Mexicans are lazy, blacks all steal, Catholics are all child molestors, and all Northerners are dull, lumbering oafs who wear wife-beaters and whose highest aspiration is to get a job at the factory where their Pop's works.
That's about how culturally biased, uninformed, and ignorant your comment was. If you're trying to impress me with how sophisticated and educated ND fans are, you failed miserably. If you just needed to make yourself feel better putting someone else down by using an uninformed ignorant stereotype, I hope it worked.
Based on what I've seen from most of the posters here and my experience with most ND fans I've met, I'll assume you're not typical of the ND fanbase and you just didn't think before you typed instead of assuming you're an ignorant bigoted *** who finds it easier to believe an erroneous stereotype instead of thinking for himself. Cool bro?

Well said.
