Mike Vick, ay. But, Marcus, The People's Champ? How could anyone grow up NOT rooting for that guy and NOT wanting to follow in his footsteps? I know that Marcus has been nothing but an inspiring force in my life; a role model, you might say.

Highly doubt he remembers back that far. We are the same age and the farthest back I can remember about VT is Xavier Adibi and Vince Hall at LB, Branden Ore at RB, and Eddie Royal and David Clowney at WR in 2006 or 2007 and I know a borderline unhealthy amount of CFB haha.

Not doubting that Tech wasn't the dream school of people you know but come on. It isn't like Tech is Norfolk St. I have a number of friends whose dream school was Tech. The Hokies have a very strong fan base in VA and plenty of kids grow up Tech fans.

This is nuts. Guy's a luxury item anyway. A punt returner who might see a handful of plays a game as a slot or scatback. That's it. That's true for us and for most teams.
Talented as hell? Maybe. But two years of headache just waiting to happen wherever he signs. If he wants to come I guess we take him, but I just can't see spending much more time on this one. Go get all the defensive tackles and that corner from Louisiana who actually seems to have his head on straight.

Not sure the point you're actually going for, though. If I'm a football player and a fan of a school, it isn't hard to think that that school would be my "Dream school" right? As far as us normal folk, there might be other factors that make UVA, ND, Mason, or some other school our "dream school" but there are a ton of kids whose dream school is VT for a variety of reasons: family, engineering, football, location, etc. I just don't understand the point you're going for, and I'm not trying to be difficult. That Tech CAN'T be someone's dream school? That being a fan of a school CAN'T make a university someone's dream school? I mean, I know people from your way (Reston and Vienna) whose dream school was Tech. I know people from my HS in MD whose dream school was Tech. You don't know people whose dream school was Tech; I do. Meh, not a huge issue, I suppose.

Here's a counterpoint... find me any other player outside the state of Virginia that prior to committing has ever called Tech their dream school. As another experiment, go ask all the Tech people you know if Tech was their dream school growing up. Not if they really liked it or if they were a fan, but if it was the #1 place they DREAMED of going over any other possible school.

Just looked through the VT 247 thread on IM and their insider, CZYHokie for any of you who happen to check out the thread, is hedging strongly on this. He thinks IM is a huge talent, like we do, and he reported the info but he has two posts where he tries to hedge the expectations about getting him on campus and landing him. Seems to echo what Loy is hearing about IM not knowing what he is going to do yet.

Lol. Well I definitely knew people who grew up thinking of Tech as a dream school. My neighbor Kenny Younger for instance was a fullback for them a few years back. Dream. School.

But I grew up in Virginia. I am skeptical that Tech can be a true dream school as I understand the term for someone like IM who isn't from Virginia and has never been there and doesn't know anyone who went there. It's like saying the Redskins are your dream school. It's nonsense. He doesn't know anything about the school or its student body or alumni or anything except the uniform they wear. It's not even a school for him ; it's a team. Not the same thing.

I'm not one to judge somebody's dreams or desires and he could do a lot worse then VA Tech. It seems people are tired of the drama which is understandable. I still commend him on improving in the classroom to become NCAA eligible. I don't believe the drama to be on purpose and believe he is trying to do the right thing.

A dynamic talent that I still want on the roster and surrounding yourself with the right individuals can right the ship.
