Private Catholic and Military schools have been doing this kind of thing for years- take a bunch of kids from a low-income area, with everything that entails, give them strict discipline and equally strict expectations, and watch as they transcend their circumstances and do great things. My grandfather always said the hardass priests at the inner-city Catholic high school he attended were the best thing to ever happen to him. These rules don't reflect negatively on Strong or the type of players he recruits in any way: He is truly (trying) to mold men here, and I personally think he should be commended for it.
