Hey guys I'm looking to purchase something as a Christmas gift... ideally anything signed by Manti Te'o or Brian Kelly.

I'm getting a little nervous though searching through ebay, etc. as I can't tell who is a reputable seller and who isn't... and it's also hard to tell whether I'm being sold a reprint or an original autograph.

Can anyone here with experience in this realm point me in the right direction or give me some pointers?

Thanks is advance.

Look up Dwayne Drod Harris on Facebook. Not sure if he has any right now or even if he could get it to you by Xmas. He's a buddy of mine. Goes to all kinds of sporting events to get autographs. He got me a golden Tate football a few years ago. Shoot him a message. Hope that helps.

I hear Wooly has the below fine autograph of Ragone up for sale. Wooly claims that although it has a lot of miles on it, it's fully functional.

lol see this is EXACTLY what worries me... I'd trust something from the bookstore (but they don't have much) but all of these third part dealers creep me out. Oh well I guess I'll just do it.

Try the ND Bookstore. I have a Play Like A Champion Today sign autographed by BK, Dr. Lou, and Ara hanging in my bedroom that I got at the bookstore (it's pretty badass if I say so myself). At least you don't have to worry about fakes.

Yeah exactly.... regrettably I'm seeing almost NOTHING listed online at the bookstore.

Brief article about autographed memorabilia.
Autograph Authentication Guide for Your Sports Memorabilia

I've always felt the most confident in Upper Deck (UDA), Steiner Sports, Tristar and Mounted Memories. I've heard it said that at least 70% of the autographed stuff on ebay is fake. Even if they claim to have a Certificate of Authenticity from one of these Dealers I'm still hesitant. I would feel the most confident of getting an authentic autograph by buying directly from one of the previously mentioned dealers. Steiner Sports has by far the largest amount of Notre Dame Memorabilia and routinely has them discounted, but two weeks before Christmas, that is probably unlikely.

Link to Steiner Sports
Sports Memorabilia- Autographed Sports Memorabilia and Gifts

I don't know if any reputable dealers are selling any Manti Teo stuff. Normally they can't get involved in that market until the kid declares for the draft and then the dealers can pay the kid to sign a bunch of stuff.

Yeah, I recently bought a PLACT 16x20 photo from Steiner Sports that is signed by Holtz, Zorich, Stonebreaker, Rocket, & Rice. Got it for 75% off, but that was close to two months ago. Came with a certificate of authentification. They also had BK-autographed stuff at the time.

Look for signatures that have PSA/DNA authenticy. It should have a page to accompany the item(s). Some also may have a professional hologram.

I wish I saw this sooner. I have a signed Notre Dame BK hat that dates 3 weeks before he took the job that I would have totally sold. It was pretty awesome... he wouldn't sign any UC stuff at the Cincinnati suburb BW3's because the UC fans were rude as all hell, asking him while he ate dinner with his son (who he probably got to see a few hours per week). I waited until he and his son walked outside to ask for the 'graph, and I said, "You will be the second coming of Christ at ND if you go there and bring home a title." - He was more than happy to sign my Notre Dame gear.

Dude... you still have that for sale? My dad actually has a collection of hats from Ara through Weis. This could be perfect. PM me if you want to work something out.

Make me an offer. Obviously, since it was in person, it would have to be taken to a licensed professional to get its authenticity certified. That is the inside of the hat. The outside is all black with just a silver leprechaun. I must warn you, the autograph is now 3 years old, and the ink is fading. I'll upload an up-to-date photo if you are seriously interested. You will have to excuse me that I may not sell it, depending on what happens on the 7th.

Here is the date the original photo was taken (I sharpened and upped the contrast on the shot above). Surely, it was that night after I returned from BW3's... 11/21/2009

Steiner Sports has a pretty good deal today on the item below. Price is $199.99 for the UNFRAMED signed photo. If you want it framed it's extra.

Price displayed on the web page is the regular price of $524.99 (I doubt they sell to many at that price). Add it to the cart and it will show the sale price at checkout.

I know you can possibly find this item or similar items cheaper on Ebay, but if you want the confidence of buying directly from one of the most respected authenticators/sellers in the business, you may want to consider this deal.

Unfortunately, Te'o items have definitely dropped in value. You can find these a lot cheaper if you want.
