He had the same thing on his "building blocks" at Louisville. No guns, no drugs, respect women, etc.

It basically sounds like his first step in building a program is to be sure that they aren't constantly filming rap music videos.

Wasn't half that team from Miami? Might be the first time those kids heard anything like that.

Anyone think Mason is going to poach some Stanford coaches? Says he will have staff complete in 48 hours and knows all the names... don't think he has a huge coaching tree. Wouldn't be surprised to see him grab some position coaches for coordinator positions.

God I hope he does. I respect Stanford as an institution, but they're a major thorn in our side.

That would be great.

Hmmm, I know Dickerson has higher priorities, but I wonder if this will make him think twice.

This is what I was hoping would happen. No way he was going to take Hart as he's old and locked in to being a DL coach from here on out, but there was a very strong chance that whichever position coach didn't get promotion would follow him to Vandy for a big pay raise and a coordinator job. Was really hoping it'd be a CB coach to push Alexander more towards ND, but any coach is fine by me.

some food for thought/little perspective on the silly season:
Tony Barnhart was on Bill S King this morning, talking about all the worrying by fans of the coachng carousel, all the assitants chanign schools etc he said Jimbo Fisher lost 6 (six) asst coaches last year...and then won the natty this year.
his point was, fans put too much stock in the assistants and should really only worry when the head coach leaves and not any of the assitants. i tend to agree. thats why dont freak out when we lose a martin or a diaco etc...

This is interesting. I'm not sure I agree. I think it depends on the assistant and the school. For example, losing Alford would potentially have a devastating impact on recruiting. Let's say he left in December of 2012... we don't sign either Bryant or Folston. And then at Texas, the downfall of Mack Brown (on top of QB recruiting) was losing Muschamp and other key assistants over the years.

For certain schools and certain assistants coaches I agree that it can be irrelevant. All depends on the specific situation. No doubt the biggest tangible immediate impact is with regards to recruiting.

Some schools rely more on their assistants (Michigan), others have assistants in name only and the head coach has his hands on every facet of the program (Alabama). So it certainly varies by school. Clearly BK is a builder and not typically someone who relies tremendously on his assistants. His record of success shows this.

Just further proof that coaching has a bit of a mercenary aspect to it. You follow the cash and the opportunity.....

Bills DC. They also apparently interviewed Schiano in FL this morning. Scraping the bottom of the barrel.
