They were turned down by every "home run" hire they could have had.
I think he is going to kill it in recruiting.
Like I said, it happens everywhere...

He is absolutely crazy if he doesn't take the job.
His average class at Louisville has not been much better than before he got there.
Except he could go to Florida next year, which would be a much better fit IMO.

Hasn't Strong's recruiting methods been deemed "unsound" by some too? He will be under a microscope at Texas.

Who really gives two shits if he doesn't want to be on the network? If he is producing on the field you think they are going to care? Forde just didn't want him to leave Louisville, he lives there.

Maybe. Or maybe Forde has a unique perspective because he lives in the market. Bottom line...yes, if he wins, no one in Austin will care.
Everyone has said all along Charlie hates the media. UT knew this coming into the search. I seriously doubt that Charlie will have the same media demands as Mack (Longhorn Network wise). The guy was there for 16 years and was the face of everything. They needed filler on their shitty network and Mack loved that stuff so it fit. Won't be like that right away for Strong.
Totally disagree with this reasoning. We're in a different media market than we were 15 years ago. I think it will be worse for the new hire (assuming it's Strong) than for Mack.
I'm not saying he won't have to do Brian Kelly type things because he definitely will. I am saying I don't think they will make him do all the extra network stuff Mack did because that was his cup of tea and he wanted to do it.
