We're shortening "should" to "shud" now? America keeps getting dumber.

FYI, Jake Brown is the reporting the same thing as Loy. Not a done deal yet they need to get the test score on Thursday. "This isn't yet as done as people want it to be."

Lol at that, considering the lead headline on II is "McKenzie done deal to ND"

Mixed messages then, no?

There is a character limit per tweet. That's probably why you see so many grown ups using stuff like this. I don't like it either. Kids use so many abbreviations that they have forgotten how to spell the real words. Yet the most elegant and useful one is long forgotten by today's youth. == RTFM.

And Rivals has listed him as a commit for a long while now. I think what Jake means -- giving him the benefit of the doubt -- is that there are still a lot of steps to be taken for McKenzie to be eligible to sign/enroll at Notre Dame. That's true. There is still a lot that can go wrong.

There is no doubt though that the staff is ready to take him as a player, and that he has offered his commitment. That is all that is needed for a verbal. It's really that simple and Loy is being obtuse to cover his own butt because he made a fool out of himself.

The best illustration of why Loy is an idiot is the dozens of 2015 recruits that commit without having test scores. Has Loy (or anyone) ever bitched about that verbal being "official" when they have TWO YEARS of school left to complete? And could completely eff up academically on a number of fronts and not be eligible to enroll?

The only takeaway from Loy's reporting to be had is that Loy, himself, is incompetent and has no idea what he's doing... and on top of that has an ego too big to check. What will absolutely slay me is if McKenzie bombed the tests or screws up down the home stretch here and he goes "see, that's what I was..."

When the other services recognize him being a official commit, everyone needs to tweet them about being late to the party and thanks for reporting week old news

Good article from Jamie Newberg at Scout

Recruiting: McKenzie committed to Friday night to Notre Dame over schools like Vanderbilt, Rutgers and others.

What to like: There’s a lot to like about Isaiah McKenzie. This kid is lightning quick with very good speed. I mean his short area quickness is outstanding. He has excellent balance, vision and great feet and runs with good instincts. He has tremendous acceleration and can start and stop on a dime. McKenzie has a knack for making something happen out of nothing. The defense looks like they could have him corralled and he can somehow escape and make a play.

McKenzie is also extremely versatile. He can line up at running back or as a slot or outside receiver. As a running back he can run between the tackles but is best suited outside and in space. McKenzie, while raw a receiver, does show the ability to catch the football. He can also be a huge threat on special teams in the return game.

What may be of concern: There are a few areas of concern for McKenzie. First, he’s small at 5-foot-8, 167-pounds. Second, sometimes he tries to do too much. McKenzie takes a lot of risks with the football because he’s trying to make a big play. Rather than being a guy to take what he can get running north-south, he goes east-west, trying to elude would-be tacklers. Sometimes it works and McKenzie looks elusive and dazzling. Other times he creates some negative plays or loses some yards he wouldn't have in the first place had he just taken what was there. Lastly, he will need to become a more refined receiver, specifically with his route running.

Overall analysis: I love this pick up for Notre Dame. This program needs more speed, athleticism and big play ability for their offense and special teams and that’s exactly what I think he’s bringing to Notre Dame. He’s built and has many of the same traits as former West Virginia star Tavon Austin.

Like Austin, I can see him being used in a variety of ways in South Bend. Certainly he can get a few carries at running back but I see him settling in as a slot guy. McKenzie needs the ball in space, whether that’s sweeps in the run game, screens in the passing game or just figuring out creative ways to get him matched up one on one with linebackers and safeties. He has so much quickness and speed that he will be awfully tough to handle in one on one situations. McKenzie will also have a chance to be a huge asset in both punt and kickoff return.

McKenzie plays with five-star running back Sony Michel. Michel has been a national recruit since his first came on the scene as an 8th grader playing high school ball. He has overshadowed McKenzie. But this kid can flat out play. In fact, many believe that McKenzie is having a better senior season than Michel. To take in one step further, he's one of the more electrifying players from the state of Florida in this 2014 class.

McKenzie will be moved to a three-star from where he’s at now. And he would be given a higher ranking if it were not for his size.

Just goes to show you that the rating system is so flawed. From what I read I would say he's a three star and would be a four star if he was bigger.

Didn't realize American Heritage had two campuses and two different football teams. Was wondering if GB and Isaiah were teammates. Maybe they still have some sort of relationship?

Two different schools with the same name. Isaiah is at American Heritage in Plantation FL, same school as Deeb and GB was at the American Heritage in Delray Beach, FL.

Ah yeah makes sense, thanks. Would have been cool for GB to have an old teammate with him next year.

BGI will not be adding him to the commitment list as he has not done the necessary work in order to gain acceptance. A plan is in place for him to do so and he will have a few opportunities to do so. He'll official visit for the Navy game at which point we can continue to lay out the plan for him. We want him at ND and he wants to be here.

That sounds like a verbal commitment to me.

Not if he can't get in.

Every single player though has to fulfill academic obligations to ultimately gain admission to ND. But in a case where we want him, and he wants to be here, how is that not a verbal commitment, when by definition a verbal commitment is a pledge announcing your desire to attend a school contingent upon acceptance?

If Bo Scarbrough were to want to go to ND right now and offered his pledge, would that be a commitment, knowing he still has work to do in the classroom as well?

Especially if he's working to follow an explicit plan to gain admission that our staff laid out for him. In essence, every verbal commitment is contingent upon an outstanding academic requirement called "graduation".

It seems the services, in this case 247, are selective when it comes to assessing where players are at in meeting their academic obligations. The inconsistency is unnecessary. If I were Shannon Terry, or any CEO running these recruiting services, I would enact a policy where we list all verbal commitments and do our jobs in keeping fan bases up to date on where each player stands relative to the likelihood of gaining admittance.

No doubt they (247) currently have players listed as verbals that are way behind in meeting the "clearinghouse" or the admissions standards set by the school they've offered their verbal to.

They probably share news/ sources. So if one 247 guy gets bogus intel, you'll see it repeated by lots of different reporters.
