I think this game is going to be a higher scoring game than last year. A 28-24 type game. We are ahead of where we were last year in terms of overall weapons and offensive cohesion, but are a bit weaker defensively at safety and linebacker.

It's tough to "look fast" against that dink and dunk bullshit.. Especially when Kelly was going to give them that all day, knowing they'd never actually become a threat. The only thing I'll say is the missed tackles hurt us a bit.

I thought he was pretty matter of fact about it.. He said he never felt like he needed to tell Diaco to dial it up and get him the ball back.. The game was always in hand and the O and D never needed to be more than vanilla soft serve.

Michigan will be a different story on both sides of the ball.

Kelly is not Urban. He doesn't need to go for two against Buffalo and whip his dick out in front of everyone to show how big it is.

He new the game was over and decided to sit back and play 10 freshman. Michigan will see a lot of ground and pound with the deep ball to Davaris/CB and flag movers to TJ.

I think this is a good assessment. BK mentioned in the post game that he was fine with Diaco giving them the easy yards. It's what we do: bend, don't break. We didn't really break yesterday. Only once he asked Diaco "Hey, lets dial up some pressure here."

I'm not really that worried about defense. As long as the offense executes like they did before we got off the gas, I expect the defense to allow the dink and dunks and hold the opponent to 3 points or nothing.

Michigan has opened as a 3 point favorite, with a total of 50. I was hoping ND would be +6 or +7 following week 1. If ND's D is the same as last week, the over looks easy; but I think that is a trap bet.

I'm going to take ND with the points and on the money line and stay far, far away from the over/under.

I'm considering requesting a one week ban following this game, should we lose. Nothing that I will contribute following a loss will be good for the board.

That being said, Irish win 27-24.

Don't even want to know what will happen here if things go south next weekend. It will be a combo plate of "lonely hearts club" depression and whiskey fueled keyboard rage. Over/Under on regular posters going on vacay is set at 4.

I expect Jaylon to have a coming out party this weekend by "shadowing" gardner and shutting his run ability down. I hope Niklas has a herculian day.

Gardner really isn't that good on designed runs. He's so much different from Denard in that regard. Gardner will take off from the pocket if things aren't there, he won't stick around all day like Denard and wait and wait until it's too late to go....he'll just go.

We don't really have enough sample data to make the assessment that he's not good at designed runs, it's easy to say he's not as good as Denard, but I wouldn't say he's not good at them.

I hope "someone" tracks Gardner this weekend. those 3rd down QB scrambles were frustrating.

If we had to go 1-11 every year but could pick one win, I would want to beat the skunkbears every year. This is why I hate that we are ending the series. Yes I know how it makes sense and doesn't really hurt us but this is the one game I look forward to the most every year( even if it is the most tense game)

last year we had a spy on denard...as someone else mentioned, this seems to be the best option from us CouchCoaches...he isn't a precise passer but man can he throw the deep ball...they have speed/big play makers in gallon and norfleet...both guys i don't want to see catching across the middle of field as i foresee one of our ilb's getting broken ankles...really hope our D doesn't get faked out of their shoes...we whiffed several times last game that we ended up getting gashed when we could have had a sack...i think its a total equal matchup

I like to think of myself as a pretty open minded college football fan, but I know that I can be a little bit of a homer sometimes. But my god are Michigan fans the biggest bunch of cocky a$$holes I have ever witnessed. I read Mgoblog for $hits and gigs and I end up wanting to reach through the computer screen and strangle the fools who post on there. They really think they're an elite program again. Also for some reason they believe that our schedule is pathetic compared to theirs even though they play in the biggest pile of crap conference with no real opposition other than "Ohio".

Just had to get that off my chest...

I'm from Wisconsin, and I do not have a true Irish fan in my life. There's a couple guys that say they're Irish fans, but they're not. They couldn't name 2 of the OL I bet any money.

But 2 of my best friends are die hard Michigan fans and I can't stand it. They make me sick.

just watched the UM game too.

their play action is going to be SCARY as hell. we bit on it way too hard with temple. bad coverage LB play means 10-15 maybe more to the TE or slot consistently.

gardner can be contained better than denard but hes still dangerous---but pick-able too.

their true frosh green at RB is no joke.

they played sloppy though. central got yards on them, just couldnt convert.

if we play d like this week, we lose. this is going to going to be another nail biter till the final minute.

Don't know how many people have really though about it because I certainly didn't before yesterday, but we are 21-2 in the regular season since the 2011 loss to Michigan. Pretty crazy to think about.

The funny thing is, living on the east coast I never thought Michigan was a big rivalry or really understood the hate or the concept of dumb@ss Michigan fans. The Michigan fans I knew/know out here tend to be Michigan grads... who are relatively intelligent people, especially their engineers. Then I started doing the whole internet thing a year or so after I graduated.

The amount of mouth breathers on the internet who actually think:
1. That we're "chicken" when they asked out of the series earlier and we just accelerated the end of the series. There are also comments on record from their AD talking about why it was going to be hard/impossible to keep the series with an expanded conference schedule. I mean... seriously? You have to be beyond ignorant or stupid to believe that kind of crap.
2. That we were "lucky" last year, but refuse to acknowledge any luck whatsoever in the 2011 game where they had a fumble bounce into Denard's arms for a TD, Tommy Rees magically fumble the ball while going in for the game clinching score, and ND blow a lead with Michigan on their own 20 yard line with 23 seconds left in the game.
3. That Michigan is a superior football team and national brand to Notre Dame on every level, and that Notre Dame is "irrelevant" but Michigan who can't even regularly win one of the worst conferences around is the pinnacle of relevance.

----

As an aside, from everything I've heard there will not be a game next year. I think the only thing that can change that would be a ND win so they really want one more shot OR Michigan not wanting to cancel the game anymore because of Hoke's comments... so cancelling it would seem quite hypocritical. I was told many months ago before Hoke started running his mouth that the game for '14 was already cancelled in principle if a contractual settlement could be ironed out. Then again... we wanted out of ASU and that didn't end up coming to fruition. So we'll see what happens.

That is crazy! Not as crazy as the "custom" hand painted pair of Notre Dame Tom's my wife found on Etsy though.
