Listening to Mike and Mike this morning and heard them drift off onto movies for a second and Golic talked about bawling at Marley and Me and crying at Field of Dreams ("Wanna have a catch?") and Brian's Song.

We have had all kinds of movie threads and I was wondering what movies you guys think its OK to cry at (could be sad or happy).

I gotta agree with Golic at Field of Dreams and Brian's Song as starters

Usually I if I ever cry at a movie it'll happen once and never again but Field of Dreams turns me into a baby every damn time. Here's a couple others for me:
Saving Private Ryan - "earn this"
Braveheart- "fought like warrior poets"
It's a Wonderful Life - "richest man in town"
Iron Giant - the end
UP- you know EXACTLY what part I'm talking about

There are lots of movies that choke me up, but the one moment that actually made me sob, and I mean bawled my eyes out was the opening game in the NFL on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The singing of the national anthem for I believe whoever the Falcons were playing was an opera singer. It was AMAZING! I wept like a baby. It brought back all of the emotions that I went through from that point of my life. September 11th gave me the courage to serve in the military and become the man I am today. I love this country so much, and I am thankful for everything it has given me.

Quick tangent...why does Disney either kill someone off or have a character who has experienced family loss? (not always, but A LOT of times its true)

Any solid sports movie.

Miracle, Remember the Titans, FNL, 42, Rudy. The list goes on.

I agree with the national anthem sentiment too. If someone does a particularly good job, I get a lil choked up.

never admit weakness

I watched Saving Private Ryan on opening day with three WWII veterans sitting near me. The last thing I'd ever call them is weak.

I don't cry but my eyes water up every time I hear the Star-Spangled Banner.

Too many to list over the years, "Something for Joey" or "The Champ" was probably the first time I choked up in a movie. "Life is Beautiful" "Road to Perdition" "Saving Private Ryan" more recently.

My family gives me a hard time about it, but every well made sports movie chokes me up.

Only movie I ever cried at was Schindler's List during the scene near the end where the Jewish workers give him the ring they made for him and he's crying about how many more he could've saved. One of the most moving scenes in movie history.

I don't cry. I'm not trying to act like some macho man - I do get that knot in my throat - but I just don't cry. That being said... Field of Dreams and Armageddon choked me up. Bruce Willis is my dude... sad to see him sacrifice himself for Ben Affleck.

I was wasted at the time, but the only movie I really cried about was The Pianist.

There's a scene where Szpilman is caught by a Nazi guard in hiding. He assumes he is going to be killed, but he says he is a great pianist, and that he shouldn't be turned in...

The Nazi soldier makes him prove it at the piano nearby. Thus, is playing the piano for his life; the Nazi soldier doesn't believe he is a pianist, and Szpilman has to (i) prove his worth, (ii) play something moving enough that the Nazi doesn't kill him, and (iii) prove the worth of the Polish people.

His fingers are brittle from malnutrition. He is suffering from jaundice, among many other maladies.

But he plays Chopin's Ballad in G Minor. For his life and to prove to the soldier the beauty capable of the Poles. He could have played so many others -- Rachmaninoff, Mozart, etc., that would have been more difficult. But in playing Chopin -- a Pole -- he proved his peoples' destruction was unwarranted.

The soldier weeps and lets him go.

This is a true story.
