Interesting note in TV. Alex called and left a message for Muschamp to inform him of his decision on Monday. Muschamp never called back and Alex found out he had no interest in talking to him once he heard Alex was sticking.

I personally think thats wrong of the coach.

What an *******.

I guess it makes you wonder ... Did AA really give Muschamp his silent commitment to UF, then renege? Still no excuse for not calling back but maybe slightly more understandable than if AA was just vacillating and then decided to stick with ND.

But maybe Muschamp is just that much of an *******.

SEC coaches certainly don't handle ND- related recruitment rejection well. How long til CWM tells everyone AA doesn't have the chest to play there anyway?

You're a grown man dealing with 17/18 y/o boys, grow up, call back and wish him well.

I thought the same thing. The only logical reason why Muschamp didn't call him back is because AA told him he was silent and he felt stabbed in the back. Of course Muschamp isn't always logical, sometimes he seems to run on pure emotion. LOL

He probably didn't call him back cause he thought he wouldn't be able to control himself and would give him the Clay Burton treatment.

It doesn't matter if Muschamp called him back or not.. Some coaches might do that but after they hang up they're all saying the same thing.. "Fu*ck that kid"

I don't buy that. You think if Jaylon called BK and said I am going to commit to OSU that Kelly would have hung up and said "fvck Jaylon!." I don't. I think Kelly would have got in his car and drove to Luers trying to convince Jaylon to stick Irish.

This just shows we wanted Alex way more than Florida did, imo.

Who cares? Why does Muschamp need to call him back? I'm sure Muschamp could spend his time more effectively calling a recruit they still have a shot with.

Lol I bet you're right. He would have gone all Incredible Hulk on him. He knows it was safer to just avoid the kid, for everyone.

Ehhh this is a different scenario if AA told Muschamp he was going to commit, like it has been rumored. We have already seen an example of our staff not chasing for a re-commitment of a player who performed a similar stunt - Mr. Decker. If a player tells you he is doing one thing, and then goes back against his word and does another, it will irk absolutely anyway, big tempers or not.

Gerry Hamilton from 247 Sports had some very high praise for Alex today on the Bill King Show.

He said that in addition to being big and fast, he's in the "right position" almost all the time, more so then any other linebacker in this class.

This is huge.

As fantastically talented as Manti was as a freshman and sophomore, he was definitely out of position a good chunk of the time, overrunning plays.
Obviously he corrected that and is now an consensus All-American. But for Anzalone to have that down better than anyone else, even at the high school level, is fantastic and bodes well for his future here in the Bend.

I definitly see the difference here, but if a kid in high school is big enough to call a coach to explain to him why he is making the decision he is making I would expect a grown man to be able to hear him out.

It's just another recruit for FL, but for AA I would say it is a bit more serious.

If the kid called to say he's shutting it down and is 100% committed to ND even after visiting UF a couple times, what's there really to call back about? The kid's moved on and the coach is busy with a million things. I don't think there's a lot of courtesy work in BCS football coaching.

I'm not talking about a kid who is de-committing for the first time. Of course in that situation, any coach, especially Kelly and staff, are going to go to certain lengths to keep him. I'm talking about a roller coaster situation like AA's.

Alex played today and his team won easily in the first round of districts. Will play in the semi finals next weekend.

At a different game last night, I ran into his high school principal, who is a friend of the family. Got some good information on Alex as a kid, his dad, and what it was like having all the coaches come to the school. Even have a funny Diaco story.

Football aside, Alex is graduating with a 4.5 GPA and is 37th in his class academically. Three of their starters on the O line are in the top ten of the senior class academically.

That's very impressive. A kid that smart needs to be going to ND not UF. Can he just get a full academic scholly so we can save a football one? kthx

I asked the principal what it was like having all these big time coaches come through the school. Had to ask him what Diaco was like in person. Their football team works out every morning before school at 6 am in the weight room.

Diaco showed up to the school at 5:45 am in ND gear, hair perfectly combed, coffee in hand, introduced himself to the principal.

Principal: Good Morning. I'm Mr. XYZ, the principal. Who are you with, Penn State? Ohio State? (He was joking, just messing around with Diaco, trying to get a laugh)

Diaco: (no smile, no laugh, all business) No. I'm Coach Diaco from Notre Dame. Where's the weight room?

Sounds like Diaco. He is so serious it's almost frightening. No, it IS frightening.
