“@KeithRIVALS: If #MissState commit Will Redmond takes visits #Vols #NotreDame #Vandy #UNC could get them. All still recruiting him hard, he says”

He certainly has speed. Don't really want to take him unless we miss on a couple.

I think this kid is a player in his own right, but I definitely think he took advantage of having Kimbrow as a teammate and is just trying to hop onto whatever team is the hottest.

I'm not sure how much I believe of that we are recruiting him hard. What do I know though?

Said he isn't necessarily looking around, just wants to make sure of his choice.

Also said if Mullen doesn't want him to take visits he won't.

Any idea what we are recruiting him as? WR, DB, RB? Seems pretty skilled at any of those positions and boy does he look fast on tape. I realize he's a Miss St verbal, but if he's willing to listen, I can't imagine it'd be a difficult sell on the virtues of better education, grad rate, Diploma ROI, etc. Apples and Oranges Baby.

Just for giggles:

Average 30y ROI for ND- $1,384,000 (9th nationally)
Average 30y ROI for MSU- $384,400 (336th nationally)

A Notre Dame degree is worth over 4 times as much as a Mississippi State degree.

Not sure where you found those numbers, but I assume the stats came from paying your way too. ND costs more than MSU, so the ROI is likely even greater for someone on full scholly.

The ROI subtracts out total cost of attendance, so it's accounted for.

I think that was his point, ROI at ND for a student-athlete on full scholarship would be greater than the accounted for numbers. They are not paying for their education.

That's a good point. Total cost of attendance at ND is close to $50k/ year, so the scholarship itself is worth ~$200k over 4 years. Mississippi State claims it's TCOA is ~$29k/ year, which is ~$116k over 4 years.

An extra $84,000 in up-front value is nothing to sneeze at, but it pales in comparison to the $1 million dollar difference in market value between the degrees over 30 years.

Nice way to say, "Kid, I only offered you for a chance at Kimbrow." ?

I just got off of the phone with my buddy at State. He is on Mullens staff. I brought up the Redmund kid and said I heard he was thinking of looking around. He said Mullen was pissed! He has high hopes for Redmund and doesn't want him looking around. Told him that if he took a visit that he (Mullen) would take him off of the commentment list and would be looking for someone else to fill the spot. According to my buddy, Mullen told him that if he was going to keep looking, he wasn't the type kid he wanted in Starkville.

Again, this is hear say and not addmissible in court, but it did come from an assistant.

Mullen sounds like Weis. He might want to reconsider that recruiting strategy.

That's what I thought. lol

And didn't he just announce he was coming to ND? Well I guess he is no longer a Miss State commit.

He announced that he's visiting, not that he's committing. Mullen apparently huffed and puffed about taking Redmond off his list of commits if he started looking around, so Beau is joking that Redmond apparently isn't committed to MSU anymore.

Mullen just called it a reservation. I hope the kid was listening to the call in show, because Mullen was trash talking him & others for looking pretty bad.

Mullen was trash talking Redmond? If taking your visits and making sure of your decision is looking bad then we have quite a few that "look bad." Mullen may be the one looking bad here.

He can't specifically talk about recruits to the public so he would have had to be talking about commits taking other visits in general.

Precisely. I could have worded that better so it didn't look like he was committing to ND...
