Who do you want to replace Brian Kelly?

What I cannot understand is why ND's OL isnt better than it is. I mean, ND has some serious talent on the OL. Much better than most of CFB yet ND doesnt dominate ever. Even against teams like Navy that they outweigh by 50 lbs+ a man. I dont get it. Everyone talks like HH is the beesknees yet the guys dont ever really produce when it comes to dominating the run.

Come on...

Go look at how we ran the ball last year and in 2012. Go look at the combined numbers and YPC of Prosise/Adams relative to the Heisman winner last year, Christian McCaffrey, and Leonard Fournette. Once you compare those numbers and production, do you still want to make the case that we're not smashing teams on the ground?

The reason the OL is bad this year is that every single position but LG is worse than the year before and VERY inexperienced. McGlinchey is not Stanley, Mustipher isn't Martin, Elmer was worlds better than every guy given a shot at RG, and Bars has been worse than McGlinchey. But if you project to next year... much like how the line was mediocre in 2014 after losing ZMart, etc. ... the line will be likely be much more consistent and effective with Eichenberg or Karemer plugged in to RG and everyone else returning.

Jack won't put a number on how many wins ND needs to get to next year. Too many variables come into play. For example what if the number were 10 wins. But they win nine because the staring QB(Wimbush?) gets hurt and misses two games and they lose closely in those two. He wouldn't -and shouldn't- get fired under those circumstances.

Totally agree. Stanley and Martin were huge losses. Next year the line should become a real strength.

I see what you're saying, but expectations don't change, circumstances do. Elite coaches consistently meet expectations, despite circumstances. Since BK has basically one season to do this, it's "f--k or walk pal, no excuses" time, which IMO should have already happened.

If you ask me 6 questions and I get the first one wrong but the rest right the only thing will be said is look he got the first one wrong.

Most people don't care anymore about right and wrong. I am not saying Kelly is perfect because he isn't and I have aired my thoughts but the man is doing it the right way here. If you don't like the academic requires go root for another team.

LOL, OK there 'Ol high and mighty. Not sure if you've been noticing, but ND has been letting in students who *grasp* cheat and get in trouble. So the whole "ND does it the right way" thing is a little watered down, don't you think?

I mean he absolutely should not make a public announcement to that effect but internally 9 or 10 should be the expectation. Obviously, you can adjust to circumstances as they come at you.

Assuming we keep Kelly the public position from the admin should be we are behind him 100% and that we have a contract and we intend to honor that contract. The private position should be that he's on the hot seat.

YUP.

The thing is, the recruits are the future no matter what. Hammering Kelly and hot seat talk sends them to Stanford, Michigan, and Ohio State.

At least a supported Kelly can go into this recruiting season with a story, and a pitch and maybe keep it respectable. Screw that up and you make the next guy that much more likely to fail.

Hot seat talk needs to get put to bed...

Will be frustrating for fans who want to know that ACTION is being taken but sometimes you got to let it play out behind the scenes.

Im with you but a good coach can win with so so talent. Maybe not against USC or Clemson but ND has well more than enough lower tier opponents to collect wins against every year.

Dont get me wrong, I want ND to come out guns firing but you have to assume year one or two isnt NC time with a new coach, no matter who he is. Meyer didnt do it and neither did Saban.

Meyer went 12-0 in his first season in Columbus. The only reason that he didn't win a MNC, is that OSU was ineligible for post season play.
