What video game are you playing?

It's a really weird trend seeing Remastered games that were only released like 5-6 years ago.

Red Dead took like a decade or more for the 2nd one, right? I wouldn't hold my breath.

Edler Scrolls, I think we'll get something in 2024-2025

Witcher: no clue but I can't wait. Do they have a plan to add another in the franchise?

All 3 of these might be my favorite games of all time so I'd be motivated to join the 'new' console club.

These release cycles are too damn long these days. I'm not expecting a masterpiece every year, but it's been 11 years since Skyrim. I'm 40 now, I was in my 20s still when the last Elder Scrolls was released. C'mon, Bethesda...clock is ticking. At this rate I'll be 50 before the next Fallout comes out and it'll probably be more FPS focused again with Minecraft and dumbed down RPG elements.

Lex Friedman had Todd Howard from Bethesda on his podcast. Talked about the last 25 years or so making Elder Scrolls, Fallout, etc. Turns out his favorite video game is NCAA football.

Was expecting him to be a total weeb for fantasy stuff (no judgment from me), but to find out he is NCAA Chad is warmed my heart.

So I hopped back into Elden ring today and managed to beat Malenia in about two hours. Gonna give the Elden Beast boss another try.

A few things:

1) Remains to be seen how much of a soulslike this will be, but early scuttlebutt is that it will be one. An Armored Core game with the budget that a modern From Software commands should be amazing. Crazy to think that the last time they made one they were on the come-up.

2) I love that From Software has become so well known for their quality that they can drop their name like its a title card at this point. Anything they make is an instant "buy - potential GOTY". It's awesome. "Oh, you've never played an Armored Core game before? Guess what bucko? You just became a superfan."

3) If the music and sound effects in the game are on par with this trailer, I will lose my mind. Mech go BRRRRRR

My wife bought my boys a Nintendo Switch for Christmas. The last couple nights I've woken up to her playing and having beaten Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, and Donkey Kong Country. I was upset, confused, and aroused all at the same time.

This is me. I started with Demons' Souls in 09' and played every Soulsborne since but I have yet to try Armored Core. That's gonna change with this one. Fromsoft really has a high bar for their game quality.

I'm probably not going to fire it up just yet, but there's an Isometric Game sale on Steam right now and I finally picked up Wasteland 3. If you've never played the Wasteland games they're more like a spiritual successor to Fallout 1 and 2 if Bethesda hadn't taken them 3D. It took me so long to pull the trigger cause it's still a little painful that the developer, InExile, didn't hire me for that project...I was so damn overqualified.

Just saw this the other day. Gotta say I'm super stoked. My first exposure to From Software was Armored Core 1 on PSX back in '97. My brother has the disc, but I've got the rest of the mainline games on PS2 and PS3: AC 2, AC 2 Another Age, AC 3, AC4, and AC5. There's just something satisfying about customizing a mech and blowing a bunch of shit up.

I had a demo disc for my PS1 back in the day that had an Armored Core demo. I played it religiously, even though it was just two pretty standard, limited levels. I could also never beat the second level... though I kept playing it with different mech combinations. I liked using the tank track legs, with the guns-for-arms setup. It was a rolling death machine (that was probably an absolutely terrible setup based on stats, but 7-year-old me wasn't paying attention to that lol).

I'm not sure on the Witcher as I haven't opened my PS5 yet today, but they usually have you put your PS4 disc in the new-gen console, then there is an option to download the update for new-gen capabilities.

I had AC Valhalla on PS4, but then upgraded to a PS5. I put the PS4 disc in, went to the PSN store, and there was an option to "upgrade" to the PS5 version for free. Pretty sure there is a catalog of popular PS4 games that had the option for free upgrades to PS5 versions, and the Witcher should be one of them now.
