How’s Elden Ring coming along?
Had my first full clear a couple weeks ago with an unga bunga build. Respecced to a full sorcery build in preparation for NG+1. Downed Malenia on the 3rd try with the help of Black Knife Tiche +10 (the knaifu waifu that saves your laifu.) Highly recommended if you haven't tried her.

My 10yo wants to play, so I created a FTH-based sword and board build that should be easy to play 1 v 1 with guard counters. It had really low damage output though, so I've been working on getting him an early Blasphemous Blade to help boost his damage with a great FTH-scaling 1h. Trying to kill Godskin Noble in Volcano Manor at level 1 was a bitch, but I finally managed it and downed Rykard last night. #FeelsGoodMan

I've been meaning to post here:

So I finally decided to play God of War (2018) because I knew that many people have been saying how great it is.

I gotta be honest: I don't get the hype. I haven't finished yet. If I had to guess I would assume I'm like 85% done or so? Just went to Hel for the 2nd time with Atreus for reference.

Idk. It's good. But I wouldn't play it again.

Faith based build with Blasphemous blade and Tiche is my setup as well. I gotta get back into it. I got stuck at the FINAL boss and put it down. :(

Elden Beast is super resistant to Holy damage, and is already one of the hardest boss fights in the game, so it's pretty punishing for FTH builds.

Having now played a good bit with all the mainstream PvE builds, I'm confident that power-stanced Colossal Swords are easily the best. Bleed is easier for new players to get up and running, but enough bosses are resistant/ immune to it that it makes for serious swings in difficulty. Even those few enemies that are resistant to Slash damage get clapped by the sheer posture-wrecking power of straight unga bunga jumping L1s.

I also didn’t realize there are only so many respec tears in the game and I was just trying all kinds of builds for a time and respecing. Then another build and respecing. Im pretty sure I used up all the tears in the game and can’t get any more lol.
It’s my first Souls game so was unaware of how the environment is set up like that. I’d have to beat the game to start over or start over with another chaaracter as far as I know.

Finally, despite the delayed release date, at least some reassurance that EA isn't going to destroy the thing that STILL makes NCAA14 playable:

When we sat down and started, you know, on a blank sheet of paper or whiteboard talking about what are we gonna focus on? What's gonna be in the game? Dynasty was like, number one, top on the list. We know that we've gotta satisfy the core and we know we wanna put meaningful decisions in that for replay ability and engagement and that aspect of almost a sandbox of things that they want to potentially do to create a program and run it and manage the team.

Maintaining replayability and expanding with sandbox-style options sounds promising. If you took NCAA14, added a built-in post-season editor, didn't have restrictions on deleting/editing/adding conferences, and had some baked-in options for stadium expansion, it would be a perfect game.

However, the 'Not so fast, my friend!'

Over 120 schools will be in the game, but not every FBS school has signed up yet. Holt declined to say which schools have -- and have not -- committed to the game, although Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said soon after the announcement of the title's return that his school would not participate unless his athletes benefited from it. Holt, when asked directly about Notre Dame, declined to answer. He also declined to explain what the process would be for getting those not in the game yet to be included.

I also saw something out yesterday that they're trying to get the actual athletes into the game. That seems like a tall order personally...I mean, Operation Sports can do it with a few people, but that takes a lot of time and I don't know if EA would plan on making it close to real with faces, stats, etc. I think a lot of times for lesser known teams the Operation Sports guys just make sure the names are right and maybe height/weight/skin color.

Yeah I heard for a long time they were trying to get actual player rights,… from my view that has to make it hard to make the game,… that’s a hell of a lot of checks to write.

I'm sure you can still beat the Elden Beast with your current build. You just can't do it spamming offensive incantations. The Blasphemous Blade deals physical and fire damage, its AoW deals pure fire damage + heals you a ton, and it all scales well with Faith. Can definitely get the job done on that last boss.

For spirit summons, Tiche is always the best option for damage, but Mimic Tear + 10 might actually be better here because it's naturally tankier, and it'll spam the AoW on Blasphemous Blade to heal itself. Regardless of which one you choose, make sure you summon it first and then cast your buff spells (Blessing of the Erdtree > Golden Vow > Lord's Divine Forticiation.)

EB deals only holy and physical damage, so I'd equip the Dragoncrest Greatshield and Haligdrake +2 Talismans. His arena is huge and he likes to teleport around, so it also helps to boost your Stamina regen with the Green Turtle Talisman to ensure you've got enough juice left to swing a few times when you finally catch up with him. 4th Talisman is a flex slot-- Old Lord's will boost the duration of your buffs, Shard of Alexander will boost your sword's AoW significantly, etc. I'd probably just use the Crimson Seed Talisman for the extra 20% healing from every Crimson Flask (hugely underrated Talisman.)

My buddies and I have gotten into Fortnite No Build. It’s fantastic - and I was largely done with the BR genre.

anyone wasting their dollars on Steam Sale this week? Anything worth getting?
Ugh, like 3/4 of my Steam wishlist is on sale it looks like...could be an expensive week. I don't know what I'm going to pull the trigger on yet though.

I’ll likely try to get back into this soon. Been itching to try it again though not looking forward to the inevitable rage induced aneurysms.

My wife hit the Facebook Marketplace jackpot for me and the kids tonight:

Found a lady selling her kids' barely-played Switch games for $10 (TEN DOLLARS) each.

Grabbed Super Mario Maker 2, Mario Kart, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu, and Minecraft for $40 total.

I had to explain to my wife that Nintendo products almost never go on sale, and that the lady had no idea what she was doing selling them lol.

Horizon Forbidden West is like if it came out years before Witcher 3 and W3 perfected everything that was wrong with it,…

Its one of the few games I've hit 100% on. I'll play it again, but it will be some time before I do so. I finished GoW: Ragnarok last week and I'm looking to do the same with that one. But I'm a bit burned out on games with Norse mythology. I beat Assassin's Creed: Valhalla right before Ragnarok. Gotta find something else to play.
