We're all old to somebody
Congrats, you're closer to my age than my dad's. But not by much.I mean, I just turned 37... but I might as well be 65 to my teenage daughter.

You have to put 8 points into the first tier of the Alchemy tree (3 points into Acquired Tolerance 5 points into and Heightened Tolerance) to raise your max toxicity high enough to run multiple decoctions at once. Then you keep Ekimmara, Ekhidna, and Water Hag up at all times. Huge boost to damage and survivability. Add on the Euphoria mutation from Blood and Wine and enemies simply explode upon first contact.
After that, Tawny Owl is the most useful combat potion. Thunderbolt and Maribor Forest are good for topping off damage if you've got the spare toxicity (but I usually don't). Use utility potions like Cat or Killer Whale as needed.
The proper difficulty really depends on how much you've optimized your build and gear. I did Blood and Broken Bones on my first playthrough, and am currently on Death March for New Game +.
I got to a point where I just wanted go around and clear all the '?' points off the maps... there is a guarded treasure in the plains of Novigrad about directly between the Oxenfurt Gate and Honeyfall Meadows that is guarded by some massive thing... whatever it is, it is way overpowered for that area of the game.. I'm a 37 and have tried numerous times. He is the walking death.
Not really. They're pretty much the same price, but the gray is far more common since it came with the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt Action Set.

The only guarded treasure I can see between the Oxenfurt Gate and the Honeyfill Meadworks is a level 8 Water Hag. Others nearby are guarded by a lvl 15 Bilge Hag, a lvl 23 Arachas, a lvl 20 Leshen, and a lvl 18 Wyvern.
I'm trying to think of large monsters you might run into in that corner of the map. Ice Giants are the biggest in the game, though you only find those on Skellige. Might be a Fiend?
That's weird... it's not a fiend or something small like a hag and it's a lvl 30 something... I'm not crazy I promise... I'll check it out tonight and report back... try top screen shot although uploading pic to IE is a major pain.
It was a Golem I think....

You guys are a bunch of goddamn nerds.Probably an Earth Elemental. They hit hard, but they're very slow. Just prioritize Quen upkeep, stay behind it, and go to town.

Def not a Gargoyle and pretty sure it's not a EE... looking at the picture I'm almost certain it's a Golem.

I know it says they are found in caves, this thing is in a circle stones right in the location I described earlier.
Okay,...
I googled... "Golem Guarded Treasure"... I'm not crazy...

Odd that it doesn't show up on the interactive map. I remember that fight, and Google indicates you're not the only one to notice how difficult it is. Do you have Whirl? I just dodge past it, engage Whirl, and it's usually dead 5-6 seconds. Whirl seems to stunlock it.
Seeing how I don't know what that is I'd say I probably don't have it.... lol

This year on top of the fixed number of points they also put a hard cap on skills which are dependent on what type of "specialty" you decided to have at the beginning. You can still earn more points through practice but you cannot adjust the cap.
So for example, if you're a three point specialist, you can have a maximum of (I think) 95 on 3 point shooting. You have to pick that "specialty" in order to reach that number, none of the other choices allow you to get that high. Unfortunately, that specialty also has a skill cap on layups/dunks that is in the high 70s and a defensive skill cap that is in the low 80s. So it's absolutely impossible to create a Steph Curry who is both a terrifying 3 point shooter AND an excellent driver. It's also impossible to be a world class rebounder and a top tier offensive player. It's an incredibly restrictive system.
I don't personally play this way, because I agree it would be broken, but this attitude is a pet peeve of mine. If I'm playing an offline mycareer then I should be allowed to build him however I want. 2k is essentially setting up restrictive rules and is telling its players how to not engage in what is (lets be honest) a fantasy.
Tier-3 Fast Attack talent in the Combat tree:

Once you've got it, you simply hold Fast Attack to activate it. Makes group battles and slow monster fights much easier.
Do y'all even parent, bros? I have minor anxiety over the fact that Battlefront and Red Dead come out around the same time. Where do you find the time to spend on something like Witcher?

I applied Whirl to stunlock my wife so i could play more games but she conjured a giant honeydo list counteracting my Whirl turning it into an longterm debilitation.
