Some real professionalism here from the USC 247 reporter Scott Schrader:

BTW this was in their 60 post thread about if they will offer Erik Brown or not. He is expected to know by tommorow.

EDIT: Also Jaylen Johnson apparently looked good at their camp today

Wow...that's totally not the guy I know. I've met him on a couple of occasions, and watched the USC Spring Game with him a few years ago (kiffin's first year, and it wasn't by design...we just happened to sit next to each other way up high at the Coli where the reporters sit), and he's always been real cool, real down-to-earth. His dad was a legendary writer for the Long Beach Telegram, and was as classy as they come, even for a USC guy lol (RIP). Shocked that Steve would say those things. The UCLA hatred is real for USC, and it's getting even uglier now that UCLA is relevant again and kicking USC's tail recruiting-wise at this early stage. Still, act like a reporter dude.

Some more things out of the USC Rising Stars camp (always an awesome camp that gets incredible talent to come out every year, both local and from across the nation) that have to do with ND:

* Leonard Flournette camped there. Not that we have a shot, but we are recruiting him. He kept it on the downlow so the locals wouldn't be all over him IMO.

* Richard Yeargin III and Quincy Wilson camped there today.

* Damien Mama was there (again) but didn't participate in their camp. He was with 2 other USC commits, who are either his friends or his cousins (can't remember). I've had Samoan friends...I've never seen larger extended families, so it wouldn't surprise me if these guys were his cousins. More reasons why I think Mama ends up at SC.

* Josh Rosen camped today, so it would have been a duel between him and 2015 commit David Sills. Can't wait to hear how that turned out.

* Defensive end Jaylen Johnson (local kid) did really well and got his offer this morning. ND is in his top 5, but that top 5 could change with this offer.

* JUST LIKE ND, usc offered a 3 star kid today with offers like Fresno St and Colorado, after he blew them away in camp, and he'll likely commit tonight. Predictably, some USC fans who know nothing about him are pissed, because like some ND fans, they know WAY more than the coaches who just saw him play lol.

QB Ricky Town was also at the camp.

Interesting how Jaylen Johnson's recruitment shakes out, his offer to ND isn't committable per Sampson IIRC

The difference being, some fans out there may very well know more than that coach. After all, we're talking about Kiffen.

But with three touted quarterbacks in camp and only one starting job, it's clear two Trojans could be left unhappy by Kiffin's eventual decision. While Browne has time on his side, Kessler and Wittek have both said they won't seek an immediate transfer if they don't win the job, with Kessler stridently declaring such a move would go ''against my beliefs.''

We shall see...

No idea what this means...did he get pissed and walk off? Did he get hurt?

Kiffin announced the quarterback race is down to Kessler and Wittek. Browne is out of it.

Only 2 scholarship WRs were able to practice today. Kiffin said he was down 19 players due to injury.

It's a good thing Kiffin can literally pull any kid he wants, they'll just reload...Oh wait

USC recruiting rankings
Scout #42
Rivals #57
Espn #49
247 #56

He pretty much did last year. Their class has elite talent but very small numbers. If you filter by 'average rating per player', I wouldn't be surprised if they're the #1 class in the country.

Edit: They ARE the #1 class in the country on 247 for last year, filtering by average ranking per player.

Also #1 class on rivals and scout by average ranking and it's not even close. USC is still getting the best of the best.

No their class this year just sucks right now

But part of it is that the big CA talent hasn't decided yet. Like Mama.

And it will only gain more elite talent by NSD. They can and always will be able to recruit. The question is, and has been since Kiff has been there, is how they can develop, coach and utilize the talent they have.

I was looking at 2013 (I thought that's what the OP was referring to). My bad. They usually clean up close to NSD, but I think people are starting to see Kiffen as the 2nd biggest douche in football, next to Manziel. It will be interesting to see how they recruit while he lasts, but so far they've done well with elite recruits.
