TURF - it's official

I'm very pleased with the stadium renovation, the Crossroads Project and the turf. I just hope that they change the look of the field up a bit. A videoboard similiar to Michigan's would be nice as well. Of course, that's just me.

If we do a videoboard, it sure will look/integrate with stadium much better than scUMs big ass ones that were just thrown up there.

Unofficial Stadium Renovation News

Brian Kelly revealed some plans for Notre Dame's stadium renovations today. Notre Dame said the things he talked about weren't official or approved yet, but this should at least tell you what direction the head coach is thinking.

He said the turf will have white diagonal lines in the end zones like the current turf field. He expects a blue and gold monogram at midfield and a thicker white line on the sideline.

Kelly also said the side of the stadium facing Touchdown Jesus might be lowered for a pavilion that will provide a better view of the iconic library view.

Lastly, Kelly said he expects some "information boards" to be in the new stadium. Won't be to the degree they are in other stadiums, but after seeing fans turn to the mobile phones often for info he thinks it will enhance the game experience.

Chances are there will also be shamrocks on the 35-yard line where the X for kickoffs would normally appear.

Agreed. The working relationship between Jack and BK has been terrific in my eyes. I don't know too much about the workings behind closed doors but its clear they share a similar vision of what ND can be in the 21st century while still cherishing the values.

A certain ringleader is still bent out of shape that he wasn't personally consulted and wasn't provided with emails and documentation that ND gave natural grass an honest look.

I'd like to see some more info on the possibility of lowering the north end of the stadium for more JD Jesus visibility. I know there was a mockup someone did a while back that showed what it would be like to cut out the upper bowl on the north side---can't seem to find it again. I love that idea.
