https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/12/mikie-sherrill-capitol-hill-attack-458655

It any of this turns out to be accurate, how do we come back from this as a nation? Members of Congress plotting with terrorists who planned to overturn an election?

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/13/crow-condemns-taylor-greene-rhetoric-458705

I worry for Taylor Greene. I think she has mental problems.

Jason Crow asked a Capitol police officer for his weapon if he was aprehensive of using it himself. That dude saw real combat. He's not one of these tin soldier wannabees that likes to take selfies with guns.

Yes. Something is definitely not right.

This would be super exciting to follow if it wasn't in the US TBH.

Totally.

Praying for the Country.

Same. And I'm not much of the praying type.

In addition, I am calling the offices of my state and Federal reps daily to make sure they are denouncing this shit. My Federal reps are Dems. My state senator is a Republican and his office is telling me they're not on board with the copu. Republican state rep and his office is strangely silent. Checked his Twitter feed and I am beginning to understand why.

I don't know when Republicans became the party of grievance. They're always under attack from someone or something, always being persecuted.

Here is a great visual as an example:

ErorFZjXIAInKvW

MTG, my new favorite nutjob, literally SPEAKING into a microphone on the HOUSE FLOOR.

I have had friends and relatives tell me for the last ten years that Democrats are "taking away their freedoms." I have often, but not consistently, asked which Democrats are doing this and what freedoms are they taking?

I am met with crickets, something about taxation being theft or their guns. Kenya Barry never got their guns, right?

Have you seen them?

My guess is nothing. They had a townhouse close to the Capitol. The end. Not exactly daper young men that would attract ladies. Or gentlemen for that matter.

The end! lol

Yes I have seen them. I got news for you my friend. Older guys still like things that young guys do and women are attracted to guys with money regardless of their looks. The end!

Good governance for the public good has devolved into the politics of airing grievances, reducing opposite views to stereotypes and obstructing solutions reached by the majority of legislators.

Two Commencement speeches:
President Obama's Commencement Address at Notre Dame

Excerpt:
Unfortunately, finding that common ground — recognizing that our fates are tied up, as Dr. King said, in a “single garment of destiny” — is not easy. And part of the problem, of course, lies in the imperfections of man — our selfishness, our pride, our stubbornness, our acquisitiveness, our insecurities, our egos; all the cruelties large and small that those of us in the Christian tradition understand to be rooted in original sin. We too often seek advantage over others. We cling to outworn prejudice and fear those who are unfamiliar. Too many of us view life only through the lens of immediate self-interest and crass materialism; in which the world is necessarily a zero-sum game. The strong too often dominate the weak, and too many of those with wealth and with power find all manner of justification for their own privilege in the face of poverty and injustice. And so, for all our technology and scientific advances, we see here in this country and around the globe violence and want and strife that would seem sadly familiar to those in ancient times.

Mike Pence at Notre Dame: 'The Future Is Yours'

Excerpt:
And on this point of which I speak, he (Fr Hesburgh) wrote words of admonition that I hope you will carry into the careers of consequence that unfold before you. He wrote, and I quote, “Notre Dame can and must be a crossroads where all the vital intellectual currents of our time meet in dialogue, where the great issues are plumbed to their depths, where every sincere inquirer is welcomed and listened to, where differences of culture and religion and conviction can coexist with friendship, civility, hospitality, respect and love.”

I enjoyed Ben Sasse's speech emphasizing involvement in your neighborhood and community.

There are multiple videos out there showing insurrectionists in the building who have working knowledge of where to go and they are directing others on how to get where they are supposed to go.

Have you guys read the Articles of Unity proposed by Bret Weinstein?

I initially said "hah!" but it's sounding more and more reasonable and peaceful.

Twitter banned his AOU account months ago though because it was somehow hate speech and I couldn't disagree more with that move.

Twitter is such a cesspool. I'm seeing less and less redeemable qualities on that social media platform as time goes on, it's ridiculous how aggressive and foul people are on there from either side. The bans seem to be all over the place too, some with little rhyme or reason. Facebook is almost tame in comparison these days.

"Tours" were being given on Tuesday the 5th, which is not normal.

Members of Congress may very well have been in on this. Planning and funding.

But hey, unity, you know? This way without consequences they'll try it again.

Fair enough. Point is, the alley in Boebert's video is not in a dangerous neighborhood and she's an unhinged dangerous goof.

The Q assholes are putting out rumors about Pope Francis now.

This shit is beyond crazy.

Ayoooo Canada represent......ah it's Q believing Canadians.

For those that want to watch another country crumble to whackjobs, give it another couple years and we'll be right behind you. A name to watch is Jason Kenney, he's been idolizing the far right in the US and trying to implement that in Alberta. Like most things, we're 10-15 years behind you guys.

I keep hearing people festering about how our society can alter our relationships with these big law-of-the-lungle social media platforms. "Oh How Can We Adjust To Them, and How Can We Fix Them?"

Short of BIG Government Heavy-Hands, "We" won't.

But the real solution has always been right there. GET THE KIDS OUT INTO THE REAL WORLD!!! Get them into nature. Get them into experiences with other people. Get the EFF off the screw-a$$ computers and have them get real. If parents won't do it, empower the school community to do it. Get the damm local governments to provide real world interactions --- regularly through the school systems or summer programs.

... freely distribute hammers with directions as to how to safely Kill the Computers and the Televisions.

OK. Overboard on the last ... but not TOO far overboard.

I was in a communist food line to get into a local Walmart because our state just ended a stupid health order only allowing 75 people in a store at a time... but anyway... I overheard a conversation with some of my fellow peasants. The one Mom was talking to another Mom about this very problem. She is a smoker and admitted she will never quit but she does not want her kids to ever start. The other Mom was saying she feels the same but about Facebook and Social Media.

Is it really that hard to just delete an app on your phone? IS it really that hard to not buy the new PS5 game console? Does your kid really need a TV and computer and cell phone locked up in their room? We once bought a TV for our kids room but after a few days it felt awkward and wrong. If we ever have a moment where we are all around the TV its usually cartoons or family stuff... with me on my smart device watching a game.

Worse food, decent health care, terrible weather - what more could you possibly want?

Look up Faith Goldy, she is the Canadian Laura Loomer/Taylor Greene type.

Here’s something we can definitely agree on.

My kid was limited on media until he got into high school. No cellphone, no social media, video games only a couple hours on weekends only, TV was limited to 2-3 hours on weekends. Once he got into high school it became a matter of him self regulating with some gentle and at other times not so gentle reminders of how it was impacting him in terms of what he said he wanted to achieve.

Anyhow, I had a blast shooting soda cans with BB guns and watching them explode, shooting bow and arrows, making fake blood to put in his old stuffed animals and using them for target practice(his idea lol), making comic strips for the funny characters we came up with, bringing him to job sites and “paying” him $5 an hour to do simple things like planting plants. Teaching him how to use a skid steer and a mini ex was a bit nerve wracking but he thought it was super cool. Haha.

You guys see the story about how Jared and Ivanka wouldn't let their secret service detail use any of their SIX bathrooms? They ultimately had to rent out an apartment across the street for $3,000 a month on the tax payer's dime just so the people who were *pledging their lives to defend them* could take a piss. These are some truly awful people with broken souls... this is the kind of crap you expect from a 19th century plantation owner in the Deep South not elected officials.

The Lincoln bust from The West Wing.

I can only imagine how much will be looted from the place before Wednesday.

Amazing how things always revert back to the plantations... rinse and repeat.
