You guys see the story about how Jared and Ivanka wouldn't let their secret service detail use any of their SIX bathrooms? They ultimately had to rent out an apartment across the street for $3,000 a month on the tax payer's dime just so the people who were *pledging their lives to defend them* could take a piss. These are some truly awful people with broken souls... this is the kind of crap you expect from a 19th century plantation owner in the Deep South not elected officials.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-m...-service-bathroom-ivanka-trump-jared-kushner/

They're just a trashy family. Started with Fred and runs all the way down to the end of the line. Some of the stories about Barron and his tantrums leave no doubt he's on the way to douchery as an adult. The Kushners are cut from the same cloth. Corrupt grifters.

I sincerely hope they do not get secret service for the rest of their lives. Total waste.

Probably just giving a place a thorough cleaning for the next residents.

Here's Peter Navarro leaving the West Wing with a photo of Trump and Xi a few hours before.

It's been a steady stream of random people leaving with random shit today. Something tells me it has nothing to do with the deep clean (which is set to cost $127K).

Also, they caught confederate flag guy. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/14/us/Kevin-Seefried-arrested.htm

That's a dubya.

Amazing how things always revert back to the plantations... rinse and repeat.

This is an exceptional level of irony. Dismiss, deflect, and ignore all the terribly true things about Trump and his feckless family. Rinse and repeat. Do you have a better example to compare it to or are you here to continue being a brainwashed lap dog for the con artist that conned you? Bigly sad.

I really dont see the outrage but I get it because we are on "pile on" mode. If you read the article through it explains with other administrations, builings were built and other accomodations made which probably incurred the same costs.

From the article:

"Secret Service agents typically seek low-profile location for their command post and restroom, said Steve Atkiss, who served as special assistant for operations to former president George W. Bush and chief of staff at U.S. Customs and Border Protection. For example, former White House chief of staff Andy Card had a trailer set up for his protective detail at the end of his block in Virginia, Atkiss recalled. At the Bush family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, a building was constructed specifically for the security detail of two former presidents, he said.

“I’ve seen it accomplished 1,000 different ways,” Atkiss said. “They don’t want to be in their personal space.”

In Kalorama, the Kushner/Trump agents were pleased with their new digs, the law enforcement officials said. The studio had plenty of natural light. Some considered it akin to a well-heeled lawyer’s study. Most importantly, it opened on a tidy bathroom.

Sounds like another day on the plantation doesnt it?

Gentlemen: way back on page 709 of this thread, in post number 28337 and repeated after, there is a visual with a disturbing "1984" vibe about it. Is that a real picture? Or did somebody rig it up? If it's a real picture, that (irrationally) disturbed me more than any other part of this.

Or how about the irony of the next post?

Completely disingenuous, the article also clearly states:
The people who qualify for such protection often occupy expensive, sprawling properties where a detail can use a garage, pool house or other outbuilding as a command post, break room and bathroom.

The episode in Kalorama is unusual because of the lengths to which the agents’ exile took them. In addition to their reliance on the restrooms used by fellow agents assigned to the Obamas and Pences, the detail occasionally popped into neighborhood businesses to avail themselves of the facilities.

“It’s the first time I ever heard of a Secret Service detail having to go to these extremes to find a bathroom,” said one law enforcement official familiar with the situation.
So it absolutely is unique how difficult they made it for them to take a piss or do their job, and everyone knows that Fox News would've run wall-to-wall coverage on Obama running up a six figure tab for refusing to accommodate "the help". And if it's not a big deal, then why are they lying about the decision through a White House spokesperson?

ETA: I understand your bigger point that protection always costs something and that there are many ways of doing it. But the purpose of the article was to talk about their exile that started with the Port-A-John and took them to Obama's garage and then Pence's residence all because they were banned from using one of their six bathrooms. It is not normal for this to happen and for someone to be this unaccommodating... or then to now come out and lie about how the decision was made now that a secret service source leaked what happened and the optics are terrible. If you want to find a more contemporary analog for disrespecting "the help" that's fine, the first thing that popped into my head was the movie where they won't let the maid take a shit in their house.

Where are the stories about Barron? I've never heard much about him other than the fact he's an actual giant.

Not sure it's fair to go after him anyway. Same deal as folks trashing prior President's minor children.

I stand corrected. Let it be known, secret service agents were treated like slaves because they had to piss at the neighbors house... I am sure their security detail is envious of Nat Turner and Dred Scott's accommodations.

You comparing the accommodations to plantations is "disingenuous".

One funding site for the Proud Boys is a Christian crowdfunding source - GiveSendGo.

‘Christian’ crowdfunder hosts campaigns for Tarrio and other Proud Boys (Religion news)
Give Fund Go describes itself as the “#1 free Christian fundraising site”

webRNS-Proud-Boys1-010521-1280x854.jpg

PayPal cut ties with it yesterday.

Currently the site is raising funds for
Protective Equipment and Comms Gear

Central Texas Proud Boys need help purchasing protective gear and Comms. Our state is under attack by overt and covert communist groups like antifa and BLM. We need to be more organized and ready at a moment's notice to protect our communities. We are looking to purchase gear like masks, shields, armpads, and radios to assist with coordination and protection against the violent left. This is NOT a fundraiser advocating violence. Rather, it is a fundraiser to present violence or defend ourselves from it. Proud Boys NEVER advocate offensive violence.

Ayoooo Canada represent......ah it's Q believing Canadians.

For those that want to watch another country crumble to whackjobs, give it another couple years and we'll be right behind you. A name to watch is Jason Kenney, he's been idolizing the far right in the US and trying to implement that in Alberta. Like most things, we're 10-15 years behind you guys.

I didn't know any of this! That sounds crazy!

What are the far right wing (American) policies he is trying to implement? Any idea what the endgame might be? How does the rest of Canada respond?

I keep hearing people festering about how our society can alter our relationships with these big law-of-the-lungle social media platforms. "Oh How Can We Adjust To Them, and How Can We Fix Them?"

Short of BIG Government Heavy-Hands, "We" won't.

But the real solution has always been right there. GET THE KIDS OUT INTO THE REAL WORLD!!! Get them into nature. Get them into experiences with other people. Get the EFF off the screw-a$$ computers and have them get real. If parents won't do it, empower the school community to do it. Get the damm local governments to provide real world interactions --- regularly through the school systems or summer programs.

... freely distribute hammers with directions as to how to safely Kill the Computers and the Televisions.

OK. Overboard on the last ... but not TOO far overboard.

It's funny I talk to my kids all the time and I'm lucky we have a fantastic relationship. They don't hesitate at all about telling us stuff etc. So we talk about social media and it's effect etc. Bottom line is they dont use twitter or Facebook. It's instagram and snapchat and mostly snapchat. FB and twitter are for old people lol.

Upon further reflection and contemplation I believe the attempted kidnapping of Governor Whitman was a dry run for the DC insurrection. I don’t believe they were lone wolves or whatever other minimized assessment of their threat that was told to me. I heard Whitmer say that some of the people involved that were not charged also attended the DC event.

This will happen again and I feel like they will get more efficient and smart about it as time goes on.

They used Facebook to communicate and the DC idiots also used Facebook to communicate. Eliminating Parler shows they mean business in stopping future efforts.

Hardly the point. Who owns it is the point. You must have no empathy for museum or archival preservation. Yeh, just take any souvenir --- who cares?

I've been charged with care-taking several unique collections of things. The random pilfering of souvenirs is the destructive bane of collections relevant to history.

I've decided to swear off the political threads for the most part. I'll still occasionally participate in factual, informative, civil discussion, but no more of the bitter, spinning, insulting, angry BS conversations. Too much of this sort of garbage from both sides. There are better things to do with my time. This past week I had a lot more fun ignoring the political threads and instead:

1. Bought a new guitar
2. Watched a good football game
3. Had sex

Trust me, all three of those things are better than spending hours every day fighting over politics.

Guesses on him running in the Republican Party Primary?

Scary thing is if he ran, he would likely win the Primary over a splintered field.

But would he really run again if he thought he would get slaughtered in the General Election?
