There's never been much doubt the Russians were behind this. No, none of us want foreign governments influencing our elections, but let's be honest - ours has influenced elections in other countries too.

The Russians need to pay a price for doing this, but what they did had little effect on the election's outcome. The electorate got a more accurate view of what she and her party were all about because of what the hacking exposed, but it didn't cause many Hillary supporters to change who they voted for. She lost because she was a bad candidate with a bad platform running a bad campaign.

Bluto, keep in mind that any president and his appointments are going to look like nincompoops to the opposing side. Conservatives were disgusted by Obama and his choices 8 years ago. Libs feel the same way now about Trump. It's part of being on the losing side of an election and most of us put our big girl panties on and live with it. This cycle, we're seeing a lot more "losing our minds and this is the end of the world" drama from the losing side. It's no worse now than after any other election. The losers are just acting worse and screaming louder about how the sky is falling.

I assume he's talking about the Loretta Lynch/Bill Clinton runway tête-à-tête while his wife was under investigation. Then Lynch "not being involved" but the report would still go through her.

Then there's the Dems screaming the FBI was corrupted by Comey's investigation while Republicans cheered his integrity. Right up to the point where he found violations but not intent. Then Dems cheered and GOP jeered ... until Comey went after Huma Abedin's laptop. Then the Dems screamed even louder while the GOP applauded his "courage" ... until he found nothing "new".

The dossier, which is a collection of memos written over a period of months, includes specific, unverified, and potentially unverifiable allegations of contact between Trump aides and Russian operatives, and graphic claims of sexual acts documented by the Russians. Now BuzzFeed News is publishing the full document so that Americans can make up their own minds about allegations about the president-elect that have circulated at the highest levels of the US government.
The document was prepared for political opponents of Trump by a person who is understood to be a former British intelligence agent. It is not just unconfirmed: It includes some clear errors. The report misspells the name of one company, “Alpha Group,” throughout. It is Alfa Group. The report says the settlement of Barvikha, outside Moscow, is “reserved for the residences of the top leadership and their close associates.” It is not reserved for anyone, and it is also populated by the very wealthy.
The documents have circulated for months and acquired a kind of legendary status among journalists, lawmakers, and intelligence officials who have seen them. Without weighing in on the veracity of the leaked document, neither of the two "errors" buzzfeed points out is particularly compelling.

Any Russian expert wouldn't spell the company Alpha Group or Alfa Group- they'd spell it Альфа-Групп. Differences in transliteration are fairly common when dealing with foreign alphabets (Usama v. Osama).

The other critique is even more head scratching. Saying a neighborhood is "reserved for" the very wealthy is very common even when you don't literally mean it's reserved. And in Russia- an oligarchy- there's no difference between the well connected and the very wealthy so it's not so much an error as it is an interesting way of phrasing it.

This Trump-Russia thing is a great study in hypocrisy. There are a BUNCH of people who are standing behind this intel report that Russia interfered on Trump's behalf, who are the same people that were skewering the ineptitude and/or corruptness of the intelligence agencies who got WMDs in Iraq wrong.

It's amazing how much smarter, and less fallible, people become when they espouse a view that benefits us....
