You are right, nobody is obligated to post here. In turn, nobody is obligated to read this thread or post in it. At the end of the day, people come and go. Some are missed, others aren't. Many folks appreciated 3T and enjoyed his contribution. Those that did, me included, are happy to be part of the so-called circle jerk. Ignore the thread if it bothers you.

Sorry to see you go, T Town. I may be Irish first, but I also spend a lot of time on other boards like BP and the Shag. It's refreshing to get views from opposing fans that aren't trolls, outside perspective adds flavor to a board imo. I always appreciate when other fans have accepted me on their boards even if I don't root for their team first. I hoped I made you feel welcome as well, I thought you added a lot to discussions and you were always pretty polite even when you defended your university from attacks (Whether they were justified or exaggerated). Best of luck, hope to see you around again someday.

I'm having a great day, actually. Prepping the playoff football feast for tomorrow, watching some college basketball and putzing around on the internet. Just want to clarify that I don't care what you guys do as far as bidding farewell to someone you don't actually know, I just found it kind of bewildering. I do think announcing your retirement from a message board is humorously narcissistic, but I don't actually care what you guys do. Just throwing my two cents in as I usually do. Proceed as you were, I don't want to rain on anyone's parade.

For the record In my original post, I was trying to say, albeit in a very cynical manner, that I didn't like "goodbye threads". I looked at it more as a "I'm leaving and I'm important so please grieve for the great loss that is my presence on this site or even beg for me to stay". But As LA pointed out, it does make sense to let people know your leaving so that other poster don't derail threads asking about ones whereabouts.

1. Also not everyone hates me. I didn't think I posted enough for anyone to even have a concrete opinion on me. I'm willing to bet I have a higher rep per post than you do. Not that it means anything other than that when I post I bring something to the board, maybe not insider information but a laugh or something once in a while.

2. Other than being a bit smug sometimes about the emotional attachment some people put toward a message board, I am usually a very optimistic poster on this site. Reference the LSU bowl game thread as I was one of the few who early on showed excitement for the opportunity to play a quality opponent and potentially save the season.

Also not that it matters, but my original post in this thread was both repped and negged multiple times, and I'm only responding to you because you sent me a very insulting message with the neg that seemed a bit personal yet I have no idea why, and also cause you literally ask me to respond back.

Generally I find it kind of silly to say a "goodbye" in an online social setting, but I think it depends on the involvement and community. For instance, when some nobody in a 7000+ Fallout Fan group announces their departure, I make fun of them because no one knows who they are. However, I've been part of a video game web board since 2000, so when a long time, active poster of 15 years goes MIA it makes you wonder what happened to them. T Town contributed quite a bit in his time here, and if he's no longer able to post regularly or at all for whatever reason, I think it's perfectly fine to bid a fond farewell without ridiculing him.
