And please dont take this wrong but it isnt like Stanford has ever been much of a contributor to the NFL. Yes there was Luck and Sherman but traditionally not a lot. So I cannot imagine anyone strapping up to go to Stanford with expectations of the NFL.
From 2010 to 2019, there have been 42 Stanford players picked in the NFL draft. 30 have been taken round 3+.
And also, look at the transfers. 2-3 star players. Odds not going to the NFL no matter where they play. Just saying
How many have lasted in the NFL more than three years?
As pointed out, they used to have fifth years to provide leadership and allow young players to develop more impacting their depth.
The number for fifth years on their teams:
2014 - 12
2015 - 11
2016 - 8
2017 - 6
2018 - 9
2019 - 4
Recruiting class sizes - not accounting for those leaving and returning from LDS missions (or total of enrollees):
2014 - 20
2015 - 22
2016 - 23
2017 - 14
2018 - 16
2019 - 24
From the 2016 Class, there were eighteen Seniors with one year of eligiblity left. Nine have entered the transfer portal including one walk-on given a scholarship. Three had minimal games played in 2019, including one who had a season-ending injury early in the season. Those are doubtful to return. I have not added Maddox, RB, who was passed on the depth chart by Jones and Peat from the 2019 class.
Current class size for 2020 is eighteen, counting one returning from his mission. I expect three Seniors with a year of eligibility left to return in 2020.
