Personal opinion but I really don't think this has as much to do with his love of Stanford as it does with something we don't even know.

Oh God tell me there's a girlfriend.
What we did allowing Tee to EE before he was fully qualified (if that is the correct story) was much worse IMO. And I wouldn't say ND "sold their soul" or that the situation was a "sham."
Also, is this really much different than essentially "wait-listing" the kid? They have his full transcripts. If they're not just stringing him along, it's just a simple yes or no in March. I believe normal high school students can re-take the SAT if they're waitlisted and then send those off to admissions to boost their case. Plus, it's not like he couldn't have committed elsewhere on NSD if he wanted.
I just don't see Stanford as the bad guy here if they're truly still interested in the kid. If he couldn't qualify for ND with his SAT, we'd be praising ND if they let him re-take in March and would be doubly praising Robertson for wanting to re-take the test and not take the easy route and pick an SEC school on NSD.
This is a weird and annoying recruitment to follow, but I'm not really seeing a bad guy anywhere here personally.
... I wouldn't fault any normal team for that, but normal teams don't get up in front of mic every single year and have their head coach, AD, etc. run their mouths about "not compromising" and such. It's well within their rights to change their admissions process for this guy, but it's also well within my rights to point out how this makes everyone in the administration a liar and a fraud.
in...He's either waiting on a pay day or really wants to go to Stanford.
I don't think the red flags comments are needed, he doesn't owe us or anyone anything. Rather him drag this out as long as he wants so we don't end up with a Vanderdoes situation. I don't think this goes out another month or shaw is doing everything he can so he doesn't end up at ND
Why can't/doesn't he visit? Does Stanford only allow you to visit if you're accepted? That cannot be, since most don't know until ~ Novemberish.
Why isn't he OVing there as we speak?
They don't let you take an OV unless you're "approved" to... this is mainly a mechanism for them to have OVs after the season when 1) they know who they want to take and who is getting approved 2) so they don't see Stanford's abysmal game day atmosphere.
And I sorta agree with Lucci that there seems to be a chance that maybe this is all BS and it's something else. The one test score I've actually heard reported was an ACT and it was so low he wouldn't even be NCAA eligible.

Do we know if his SAT was enough to get into ND

What's wrong with a kid trying his hardest to do what he wants. If ND is his fallback that's still pretty damned good. Pretty sure he can get a good education at UGA or Bama if his wants as well. If he's that serious about Stanford you have to believe he won't be the typical jock that allows himself to be funneled into getting a meaningless degree.
I'm saying he is a huge transfer risk if he were ever to get the grades during college to transfer to Stanford. Does ND want to develop him for one year only to see him go to Stanford and light us up for 2-3 years after that?
ND would block a transfer to any school on the schedule.
Kid is willingly taking the SAT for at least the 3rd time to try and get into a school he has never visited. Anyone who thinks he will be happy at ND after all this is over needs a sanity check.
This is my issue. How the heck does he even know Stanford is for him without ever visiting? I could see if he had already visited and loved it and that is why he is trying so hard but to go to these lengths site unseen is baffling.
I also believe that whiny bitch Shaw is stringing this kid along to fuck ND. The longer this goes the less it looks like ND will be the choice and i think punk ass Shaw knows this.
Why? You know we won't get to 85 so I just don't think the delay hurts ND.
I doubt they would have sent a semi from southbend to savannah if it wasn't
Remember when I suggested giving him an ultimatum?
Looks like a great idea at this point.

Yeah, I'm starting to get on board with the idea that he's not qualified here. I don't care what reporters "hear".
But there's no way in hell this kid would take the SATs 3 times to try and get into a school that he hasn't even visited.
Something that's been sticking with me through this for a while now. After his official to ND I think Wiltfong said something like, "If he makes a return trip to South Bend the Irish will have a great shot to sign him. If he doesn't come back ND probably won't sign him." Robertson never re-visited.
Then he took an official to Cal and unofficial visits to Alabama and Georgia in November. For a few months in the fall ND really wasn't in a great spot. In fact, DR kept saying it was Stanford, then Alabama or Georgia.
Then in early December, as he began a round of cancelled visits, we were suddenly back in it with BK using his in-home visit to really early try and get DR to come back to South Bend. DR does not come back to ND.
Since then, we've been in this holding pattern where it's 1. Stanford 2. Notre Dame based on the academics angle and DR not taking OV's to Bama or Georgia, even though he's been to the latter two schools multiple times and more recently than ND.
I don't expect the pay sites to flip-flop on their predictions now since DR hasn't visited anywhere new yet. But it's always seemed strange to me that DR is supposed to be 'exploring all opportunities' before making a decision and yet still has 2 OV's in his pocket knowing a Stanford OV was always going to be a long shot.
As of today it's been 163 days since he's visited Notre Dame. It might be closer to 200 days before DR actually makes a decision. If he goes with the grant-in-aid process you're looking at almost 10 months since being in South Bend. That's a really, really long time to in between visiting and finally committing. I'll be very surprised if he sits on those 2 other OV's.
is this where someone at 247 says "i expect him to be Irish by end of the week"????
